People keep saying 16x4 because it sounds cute, I don't think there is any merit behind it; even less if the playoff expands to 8 eventually.

column was written 2/5/15. Or 11 months ago. So the football part- in the column it said:
The conference power rankings show how close these conferences are in terms of skill, because the AAC was ranked 8th by the Associated Press while the MAC was ranked 9th.

Sorry but that's now at least 6-8 if not 6-9. And the AAC won a NY6 game this year.

Also the TV money calculation is wrong. It says Big East teams get 5 million a year. They don't. Get 4.17 million per year(500 million/12/10).

Makes perfect sense. You know my preference but this would be good for the BE and UConn. I'd like to see it happen. Cements the BE as the preeminent BB focused conference in all the land.

I thought it was a 10 year contract (ie, the article is wrong), and there has always been the belief that it would grow if teams were brought in (it would become 60 mil a year for the conference if we grew to 12)?

no, it's a 12 year contract. 9 years to go after this year.

The increase in the contract with fox for 2 schools was rumored before the contract was signed. There has never been any evidence that it was more than speculation prior to signing or that is in the current contract. There was an article a few months ago in a St Louis paper I believe referencing an online chat that incorrectly stated that Fox definitely offered and still offered the increase.

Agreed. I really doubt that 8 happens with the current conference system. The round of 8 is supposed to replace the conference title games to keep the number of games down. I highly doubt that any current conference would be willing to give up the $$$ of their own title game. Now if a 16X4 came to fruition, all bets are off.
