Fox Sports 1 Update

Steve Lavin is an outstanding commentator for FS1 during Big East broadcasts. He brings terrific insight and personality to the pregame/halftime shows. I'm glad that his basketball knowledge and experience is still paying off for the conference and Fox.

A certain program, that's a Big East expansion candidate which has also struggled the past two seasons, would be wise to look at him in the offseason. He could help elevate a program in need of a spark.

Lavin is IMO one of the 3-4 best commentators out there.

..... and one of the 3-4 worst coaches out there.......

keep him as a commentator....

wasn't this past Monday a big snowstorm in Omaha area? With the home attendance down? So more folks local watching the game rather than at the game maybe???

or maybe before Christmas folks too busy to watch a game with a bad team?

FS1 first live game in days on Sunday, PC Blue Hose/ Marquette on NFL Sunday, 80k.

Yes, but there were still around 6k in CenturyLink Center so assuming that every single individual who wasn't there in person was watching that would only be around 12K, not enough to explain that big of a swing.
The second hypothesis might be more accurate in this case.

Because that differential is the difference between a couple people with black boxes on their TV sets watching the game live or tivo'ing it.

Last year the games did 15.3 and 15.5. in fact, game 5 of the World Series this year did a 10.0.

Caught the beginning of Colin Cowherd's show on FS1 at 12:00 Noon and he started it off by ranting about the FBS playoff schedule and how they should have played on Saturday night instead of last night. Made a lot of good points - including the facts that:
1) Saturday is the traditional College Football day, and with no NFL games this Saturday, the day is pretty clear for programming.
2) New Year's Eve is "the one night where people try not to be on their couches watching TV, they want to be out somewhere, doing something."

According to him, ESPN practically begged the FBS Committee to play the games on Saturday night, but they refused, and he put the blame on "a bunch of stubborn old guys", and one guy in particular whose name I can't remember, who think they are going to change America's New Year's Eve habits. He said today is a day that people just want to sit around on their couches resting and watching games, and said that tonight and/or tomorrow night would have been the right choices. I tend to agree with him.
