Is the Big Ten ACC challenge really happening on a Monday night?

There are only the first two games tonight, both atrocious matchups.

Ohio State and Xavier never play. Ohio State and Dayton never play. Arizona and Dayton never play.

May change for X/OSU in the Gavitt games. Make too much sense. Dayton stocks their OCC with pansies, then get upset when they're the last team in.

I've been told it's as simple these guys really are close friends and it does make sense. They are either part of the same coaching tree, coached with one another, are related etc. I remember hearing from someone close to Sean Miller that the Xavier game in the tourney was one of the hardest he's ever had to coach, being its a special place to him (X) and he was coaching against one of his good friends in Mack. Matta, Sean Miller, and Mack will never play against each other voluntarily unless its a forced case scenario i.e. tournament.

That's stupid.

Play against each other. Do it with proper sportsmanship, teach your kids to respect their competitor, and build the relationship even more. This is even more reason to play against each other.

These matchups will never happen; Xavier think Dayton is a "little brother" so unless you see a tournament game, it won't happen. If Ohio State has anything to do with it they won't schedule Xavier, Dayton, or Cincinnati because of the "little brother." Dayton won't schedule Wright State for the same reason. Not saying it is right, but it is what it is. As much as I love Ohio State they only Ohio teams they will play are lower level schools, like playing Wright State last season. Same with Xavier scheduling Miami (Ohio). As much as some of these games would be fun to see, it simply won't happen in a regular season, which is sad.

The Dayton/Xavier stuff is great. I was in Orlando and the fans from both sides for the most part would like to see the Rivalry get going again. It would be good for the Big East. That matchup and include Butler would have full gyms, intensity and be a good look on TV which the conference needs. Dayton is very much a national school. The majority of alums come from elsewhere and the Northeast is the strongest Alum base for the school. St Johns/Seaton Hall would sell out when UD came to town. You got to see the example in Orlando where Dayton fans where 5x Xavier or any of the other teams in the field. Its a Big Time program that follows the team and puts 12k at every game now and long before Archie. The basketball facilities are among the best in the country. The Girls BB program also would add to the conference, they rank in the top 20 in attendance and as you saw gave UCONN there toughest game. Only 35 Miles from Cinn, so the Cinn market would only expand and less than two hours from Butler. Fox will love it!!!

Congratulations to Chris Mack and his Musketeers on winning the Championship trophy.

Dayton had no answer at either end of the court on Sunday, which was reflected in the final score.

This could well be a very special season for Xavier, who has an exceptionally good basketball team.

Best of luck going forward ...

Classy post Fieldhouse. Appreciate the Well Wishes. Always easy to post after a big win not so much after a tough loss. I think your Flyers will give you multiple smiles :) this season between now and March.
