I'm the one that wrote the "incendiary" post and don't regret a goddamn word of it. Every word of it is true. I'm so sick and tired of living in such a politically correct world, so I don't. Earlier, a Dayton poster brought up/compared it to Donald Trump in some way. Love or hate the guy, he's a Wharton School Graduate (Top MBA program in the country) one of the most successful businessman of his generation, he's also the GOP frontrunner in many polls. The reason being, he says what others are to frightened to say, or what might be construed as "politically incorrect", and people are attracted to that, especially from someone running for political office.
There's a large contingent of Dayton fans that are obnoxious, delusional, and overly pompous because their identity and self worth is directly related to the success, or lack thereof, of the Dayton Flyers (As stated earlier, nothing else going on in Dayton). That's why they swarm to other message boards that they have absolutely no allegiance or connection to to defend their Flyers. The boards they do have some connection to are a complete clusterfuck.
The reason I speak with some vitriol on this subject is they made a fun hobby/ie reading and posting on message boards that my team is affiliated with, essentially one, long, 10 year narrative as to how Dayton has passed/will pass Xavier as a program. Ive been to their arena many times, and the experience was similar. On here, the expansion thread is an acutely small, tame sample of the nonsensical and repetitive rhetoric they offer.
I love this board, enjoy the camaraderie with the fans of other teams, the admins great, and watch and root sincerely for each and every team in this conference(Phenomenal win by the Friars last night over Zona). Theres a nice dichotomy, a nice balance on this board. If Dayton were to ever be invited to this conference kiss all of that goodbye.
Too basketball. Ive always liked their players and coaches. Archie, per usual, has his guys playing hard and together and they are never static, always moving on both sides of the ball. Keys for X:
-Abell needs to lock in on a very hot Cooke.
-Pound the ball inside. They can't match our big guys.
-Perimeter defense. UD has a plethora of shooters. Unfortunately our perimeter defense has not been up to par lately.
-Take care of the ball. UD has very active hands and are always pressuring you.
-X cannot afford a 6-8 minute offensive drought that has plagued us a bit this season.
On paper, X is the more talented team, on the court, I see this as essentially a pickem.

One elephant in the room is the absence of Dyshawn PIerre. The 6.6 forward was instrumental in the Elite 8 run and the two tourney wins last year.
Williams and Mikesell must fill the void. Cooke almost seamleslly replaces Siebert and Darrel Davis is now a soph. Pollard is back a force that destroyed, OSU, Stanford and Syracuse two years ago in the dance. Add big Steve in the middle to reject dribble drives and this team will win going away
