St. John's 2015-2016 Roster??

After the top 20 kids or so #'s 25 through 150 are a crap shoot. Some kids develop early, others develop late. Many of the rankings are often based on projections and not actual playing ability. I think we need to let Mullin's recruiting class take the court before we crown them busts or stars.

Jay Wright was killed on the Nova board 4 years ago when he brought in Darrun Hilliard. He was a 3 star player, who played in a weak HS league. Posters said that he was an A10 at best player, and not BE caliber. 4 year later he is a 4 year starter, 1st team All-League, got drafted and just signed a 2 year contract with the Pistons. Dom Cheek on the other hand was a can't miss, highly ranked McD's AA when he came to Nova. 3 years later he was more or less a chucker who played little defense and was (discreetly) asked to leave the program.

Can we see these kids play please? After year 1 we might think that Mullin is a recruiting genius and the kids that he missed on might not be worth the hype.

4 star recruit PF Kassoum Yakwe will decide between St. John's and Oregon. Mullin really needs to get this commit. Losing out on Rowan and Heron were disappointing but not totally surprising. If he can't get Yakwe, I'd be a little worried...

One thing about him- goes to same school as Diallo- and that school notorious for not having kids eligible in college(Diallo don't think has cleared yet).

Notorious for having kids ineligible? Another uninformed post by the resident joke.

To my knowledge, this is actually the first season where their players have had eligibility issues. Give names to other kids from their program who haven't been eligible.

Our Savior New American is currently under investigation by the NCAA's Eligibility Center "to determine if it meets the academic requirements for NCAA cleared status," according to a high school search within the NCAA's High School Course Portal.

Yakwe sounds like he will stay in the 2016 class so if attends a decent prep school he should have no problem getting eligible. If he does reclassify to 2015 like he has alluded to in the past than you will have to worry about eligibility concerns

well 1 thing that has changed with the 2016 incoming class(and maybe why we've seen so many reclasses this year)- is that now 10 of the 16 classes must be done before your senior year, and 7 of 10 must be core classes

How do schools get away with this crap. I remember when I was in high school looking at the eligibility requirements for NCAA D-1 athletes and I thought, 'how the hell could someone go through a four year high school curriculum without reaching these requirements'. It is astounding. Punish the school, not the kid. Any University would be more than willing to work out an academic program to get kids caught up if that's what it took for them to remain eligible.

Only problem is with some of these kids- they couldn't graduate in a regular program. It's a 2 way street.

Also you need to remember these requirements have gone up.

where before you only had to have a 2.0, you now must have a 2.3
also-
•You must complete 10 of your 16 core course before your senior year of high school
•You will not be allowed to retake any of your 10 core courses before your senior year for a higher score.
The core course requirements are as follows 4 years of English, 3 years of Math (Algebra 1 or higher), 2 years of Natural or Physical Science, 2 years of Social Science, 1 extra year of English, Math or Science and 4 years of Religion, Philosophy, Foreign Language or additional years of any of the categories above.

it's not as easy as it looks.

also the testing scores have gone way up. if before you had a 2.3 GPA- you only needed a 900 SAT. now to compete with a 2.3 GPA, you have to have a 1080. To compete with a 900 SAT you have to have a 2.75.
