European trip gives Marquette freshmen a head start - Associated Press - August 5, 2015

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- An upcoming trip to Italy and Switzerland is coming at an ideal time for the young Marquette Golden Eagles.

Second-year coach Steve Wojciechowski said his program will benefit greatly this year from the rule allowing teams to take a foreign tour once every four years.

Marquette will have had 10 practices by the time it leaves Monday for its 10-day trip to Europe. The four games overseas will provide a first glimpse of Marquette's highly-touted freshman class led by forward Henry Ellenson.

Marquette will play its first game on the tour Aug. 12 in Rome against Hankur Basketball, a professional team from Iceland.

The Golden Eagles will then face BC Atletas out of Lithuania in Montecatinit Terme, Italy on Aug. 15, Vicenza Select in Vincenza, Italy on Aug. 16 and Sam Basket Massagno in Lugano, Switzerland on Aug. 19.

Exactly. Not to hijack the thread into a tourist discussion, but I love the Alps for how you can be in the village at about 3k and change above sea level, but you're looking up at the Matterhorn at about 14.2k. Plus, the tram rides up to the adjacent mountain are spectacular. It used to be that you had to remember to take your passport with you while skiing, in the event you had a little too much afternoon radiator fluid and then found yourself skiing down into Italy.

The Marquette crew are still going to have an excellent experience down on the lake.

Hoyas doing a tour run by the same company, so will play the same 4 teams and visit the same places. Should be good.

Yes, the venues (both CU's and MU's, and GU's in a week or so) leave a lot to be desired.
Creighton also struggled with free throws over their 3 games. I'm fairly confident that the only reason why is that they just haven't put any time into them over practice and the summer. I think both teams will be fine come November.
