Peak & Brunson make U-19 USA Team

LJ Peak (G'town) and Jalen Brunson (Nova) make the final U-19 roster. It should help both getting invaluable experience and playing against and with great competition all summer long.

Eric Paschall (Nova) did not make cut. Not sure if any other BE players were invited but if I missed someone let me know.

Georgetown sophomore L.J. Peak added 13 points while five-star Class of 2016 power forward Harry Giles had 12 points. Class of 2016 wing Josh Jackson, regarded by Rivals as the No. 1 player in the national class, added 11 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals in the win."

The two big east guys were two of the top 3 leading scorers in their first exhibition game.

Saw Brunson scored 30 points in the sf game yesterday......

Hopefully this stellar performance doesn't make him a likely 1 and done. Think it has to be very much an option now...

It's very frustrating watching these games as it's complete AAU ball with no semblance of an offense or passing. Really sad. Luckily the US is just more talented than all the other teams so they can get away with it.

Brunson is going to be a tremendous college point guard and team leader, but I have to think his NBA potential is somewhat diminished by his lack of plus athleticism and height. This is great news for 'Nova, because we might get to keep him for 3 or 4 years, rather than 1 or 2. I just don't see him as an early entry candidate.

well the one negative for him sticking around is this year there's only Dunn who is regarded as much of an NBA PG prospect.

Also, 6'2 isn't that small for a PG. CP3 is only 6 ft tall. Steph Curry is only 6'3 So is Kyrie Irving. So Brunson is right there with all those guys size wise.

one thing I wanted to mention watching a smidge of the game- I liked the way the broadcast did team fouls rather than timeouts under the team names. Kind of a cool twist I thought. Would be hard right now for college basketball- but I think when it goes to how the women are going to be playing- 4 10 minute quarters- I think you may see networks making the change there.

All true, but if you are under 6'4" or so, you better have a couple of outstanding qualities to make up for the perceived lack of height and defensive ability. The 3 guys you list are All-Stars and one was just MVP, so maybe not the clearest comparisons.

there aren't that many 6'4 point guards though quite frankly.

that's the top 10 PG in assists this year. 6'2 is right in the middle of that. Sure there's a few tall PG's but a 6'2 guy isn't going to be in the bottom of the barrel by any stretch. It's sure as heck not enough to deter teams from drafting. Of the 7 PG taken this year in rd 1 of the NBA draft, 2 were shorter guys- Tyus Jones is 6'1, Terry Rozier is 6'2. Another one was 6'3. So he's within an inch of 3/7 PG drafted this year, in a good class. Next years class isn't that good- which given his situation makes it almost worst if you know what I mean- strike while he can.
