I think things such as this will ultimately force the NCAA to give the athletes their fair share of the bounty.

I don't. I believe we will eventually see an NBA D-League Expansion and a lowering of the age restriction. The NCAA won't have to go that far because the NBA will fill the void at the next CBA.

It would be wise of the NBA to form a minor-league-esque, non age restricted league. Frankly it's overdue.

My guess is that this is a ploy to get kids with agent representation early. To me I can't get the math to work otherwise given the salaries that have been discussed. Add in additional costs around coaching, S&C, travel, etc, and they need people in seats and some TV coverage. As it is, they won't have any "rivals" to really play locally and the higher end Euro teams will likely knock them around a bit, but who would care if they play mid level teams from Turkey.

So, my guess is it's a way to get them representation and a cut of the future shoe deals, etc. If they can make that work they can cash in... and it might have a pleasant side effect of knocking out some of the one and done types with no intention of every going to class.

Anything which eliminates the one and done crowd is beneficial. Other than that there is little merit in one team in one city doing this. In any case it will have only minimal impact on the Big East.

Why? Right now the college game is their de facto minor league system and they don't have to spend a dime on it.
