Where did USAToday find the numbers then? And UD, like Xavier, is a non-profit, and so they file IRS-990 forms every year that have the top salaries on them. It is public information and given that Miller and Mack are the top earners at both programs, the numbers are there as well. The free access lags a bit so 2012 is the last year for free data. I suspect that USAToday paid for more up to date numbers from the same site.
Xavier will surprise. Never count them out of the Dance.

I'm assuming Mack and X are the same as Miller and UD. This is a "base" salary, not their full salary that includes perks, media pay, and donor contributions. AM has had (I believe I read) 3 raises/contract negotiations since being at UD. Would assume this is the amount after the 13-14 contract extension he recieved i. Jan 14 before E8 run where he received second raise after the NCAA tourny

BTW, Florida got a steal with White!

Given his salary last season, I seriously have to question that assertion. Miller is a great coach, no doubt, but going from $650K to "significantly more than $1.5M" in one raise doesn't sound very likely to me. Sources?

I'm a UD Fan and will not get in to pissing matches, but the $650K figure was for FYE June 30, 2013. Since that time, Archie had a contract extension in Feb. 2014, a re-write after the E8 run, and the most recent extension last month. I believe that the $1.5 million number is about where he ended up after the E8 run. The new contract is thought to be significantly higher with a multi-million dollar buy-out for the initial few years. UD has very wealthy boosters including two billionaires that provide significant private sources of funding. You can believe this, or chalk it up to another delusional fan ... I really don't care. Money has never been UD's problem causing meh results on the court.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman reported that Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley never spoke with Dayton coach Archie Miller or Xavier's Chris Mack about the job. According to Goodman, White was pegged for the job from the start of the search

Mack and Miller were not even interviewed. No $comfort$ issues here. They got who they wanted. By the way, each SEC school is expected to collect $26 million from the conference and networks this year. I don't think a school with two national championships in the past decade is going to go cheap on hiring their next basketball coach.

There is no way Dayton had a buyout. Maybe Archie, but not Dayton. I don't see why that is hard to understand.

I'm pretty sure Dayton does. And if miller is ever hired from Dayton that school has to schedule a home and home with Dayton

Home and homes are good for college basketball. When is the game in Boise?

Dude, I'm not sure where you are going with this, but if Archie accepted the UF job (or any other HC position at this point in the new contract) UD is getting paid a few million dollars to break the contract. Word-smith it how ever you want, someone is ponying up some coin. This was an important part of the new extension. I would hope that Xavier and Mack have the same agreement,

UD has the resources and program to make a head coach pretty happy for a while. The basketball program is a cash cow for them. I can see one of the top, top jobs luring him away in time if he continues his successful ways, but it will take a plum job or something very personally stimulating for Miller, IMO. Financially, I think UD and their commitment to the coaching salary is on good footing relative to the members of this New Big East. That is not a knock on this league because UD does well in that department.
