We'll see who VCU gets to replace him. New coach can hopefully keep a recruit or two, if not it's open season. Tough night, but we've been through it before - just not with this much media.

Yes, the sad part is the kids who committed to VCU be uase they wanted to play for Smart. They will most likely lose some incoming recruits as well as current players. These things usually screw up a program for a couple of years.

If I was Smart I would require that Texas open up spots for as many transfers from VCU as possible. Otherwise it would seem pretty odd that Smart would bail on his players after talking so much about his own experience in college.

Again, VCU as a program has proven that it can make the transition through HC changes. It should be able to do that again here and move forward well.

But this is a big hit to the A10.

Big loss for the A-10, but good teams lose coaches quite a bit. Some don't miss a beat, and others hire Jim Crews.
