Wichita State to the Atlantic-10 would be a great get for both parties. A10 would be adding another strong basketball program, a new market and a top-flight coach to the league. WSU would be getting superior competition, more exposure, as well as a travel partner in Saint Louis (who is on an island not unlike Creighton in the Big East).

WSU/VCU matchups would be very entertaining.

The A-10 needs to add Wichita. They have been doing a good job of collecting the best programs from the various smaller regional leagues throughout the years. Butler, VCU and Davidson most recently. They need to continue to do that. WSU would be at the top of that list.

As for Fordham maybe the MAAC is better suited for them, same with Duquesne. Maybe not the MAAC for them but a similar league.

Problem with A-10 is the TV money is not much better and travel will be much more expensive. Exposure will only be slightly better (A-10 is on nbcsn?). Wichita is also big in baseball and volleyball and that would kill those sports.

The A10 absolutely gets more exposure.

Let's compare Wichita and VCU on TV for conference games
Wichita
1 ESPN
3 ESPN2
3 ESPNU
9 Cox Kansas
1 FSKC
1 ESPN 3

VCU
6 ESPN2
1 ESPNU
8 CBSSN
2 NBCSN
1 MASN

So same number of ESPN games- but then instead of 10 games on Cox local or FSKC, they get 10 games on CBSSN/NBCSN.

I think also they look at themselves vs VCU and the fact they were the same seed even though Wichita had a much better record.

Using VCU for comparison is a little unfair (as Shaka is a media darling). Better to compare average of A10 vs MVC.

I think similarly you could say the same thing about the MVC- no other team would get close to what Wichita got. Northern Iowa had 1 ESPN, 1 ESPN2, and 3 ESPNU.

Dayton on the A10 side
2 ESPN2
2 ESPNU
5 CBSSN
4 NBCSN
So 13/18 conference games available pretty much nationally.

you shorted the pot

regular season Dayton
3-ESPN2
3-ESPNU
2-ESPN family (Puerto Rico - last 2 games listed this way, ESPN does that to ensure best mathups get appropriately slotted)
7-CBS sports network
4-NBC " "
3-Fox Sports Ohio

A10 tourney - quarter & semis on CBS sports network & with final on CBS Sunday afternoon.

I do think it is fair to compare Wichita to VCU as if Wichita came into the A10, their TV coverage would be very similar to VCU. And A10 coverage seems to be much bigger than MVC coverage is.
