only thing to watch:
If Smart turns down Texas, the Longhorns likely are turn their attention to Utah's Larry Krystkowiak and Xavier's Chris Mack.

Chris Mack???????? Could anything make Xavier fans happier than that? They would be having fire engine parades through Norwood, Ohio! Then they could run out and hire Pat Kelsey. Chris Mack leaving for Texas? Can't imagine that.

wtf are you talking about

Xavier's Chris Mack has received a contract extension through the 2020-21 season, per the school. Smart move by Musketeers.

Being reported around twitter that Texas and Shaka Smart are in the process of finalizing a deal.

Good there are a couple VCU recruits I wouldn't mind poaching should Shaka leave.

Looking at it, the 2 top 100 recruits VCU has are already signed. So VCU would have to release them from their LOI.

Isn't it pretty rare to not be released from the LOI?

I think so, simply because the PR and consequent recruiting backlash would be really bad.

How do you like this guy: a UD fan using Dave Gavitt's name in his handle.

If you're going to waste your time around here pretending to be a fan of the Big East, which Dayton fans don't have to worry about becoming, you should consider not being so obvious. Your problem is that Dayton is located in, well Dayton. Xavier carries a Cincinnati address. Even then, Norwood is making more progress than Dayton, so you probably shouldn't go down that road either.

Poor idiot. You probably think that Archie Miller is going to stay at UDump forever. Archie knows that he can't get it done at UD long term. He's had to rely on taking risks on criminals and rapists. All that got him this year was a short bench, and barely getting into the NCAA Tournament by playing in a weak A10 Conference. You shouldn't be taking shots at any other program's coaching situation, especially Xavier's situation, since we are very well situated with Chris now. UD has an ambitious Miller coaching for it. UD's program has a very weak resume and certainly nothing that is comparable to Xavier's resume at the time Sean left for Arizona. It's not a matter of IF with Archie, it's a matter of WHEN, and that is coming soon.

Go back to your board and join in the discussion of how UD is as good as any program in the Big East; keep discussing amongst your friends how we should beg to have UD included in the Big East. Seriously, it is very entertaining.

Didn't see it posted here:
http://www.goxavier.com/sports/m-baskbl ... 15aac.html

Mack received an extension through 2021 from Xavier.

Given the college basketball landscape, I don't think it's really big news considering coaches can practically leave at a moment's notice anyway.

However, given the timing of the post (with a job like Texas still open), I think it is important.
