I seriously question whether or not there will be another NYE marathon GoldenWarrior11. Got to remember next year NYE will be home to the CFP semifinals- as NYE will be in 8 of the 11 next years. 2 of the other years NYE is a Sunday, so that's obviously a no go.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet. ESPN has wanted to move the CFP to January 2nd and although the F5 hasn't budged so far, don't think that ESPN won't continue to push their agenda.

I, personally, loved the NYE marathons. I attended the DePaul/Marquette game this past season, and watched the rest of the games throughout the day. I thought it was a really cool introduction to conference play.

I also think it would be very cool for the teams to wear retro jerseys for an all-day Big East marathon (whether it was NYE or another day). There is so much tradition and history with all of the teams in the league, it would be a nice throwback to honor the past.

The Big East Conference will never add a school from the Deep South. Saint Louis and Connecticut could be added it Connecticut drop to FCS for football. I don't think they'll expand until more Power Five realignment occurs.

Why not? The state of North Carolina loves basketball (or is that not the 'deep south'? I'm PA boy...for a month, until I move to South Carolina).

Point is, if there is a school with the academic and athletic credentials (that is in a reasonable geographic area...sorry Gonzaga) is a viable candidate, they should be considered. I'm personally a fan of Davidson if they stay up for basketball...just to get a foothold in the ACC heartland. I'll admit I'm warming on Dayton as well...they're starting to show some NCAA consistency and are actually a really good academic/research school (I hadn't realized just how good before, but I'm an airframe structures engineer, and met a Dayton grad at an interview a few weeks ago who talked about how much association they have with Wright Patterson).

Davidson has a enrollment of like 1000 students making them one of the smallest D1 schools out there. This means no alumni base and no fans....

Could we move our marathon then to Jan 2(a Saturday this year)? Don't think the NFL is playing that day, and also with it being Saturday, we could get Fox Network to air a few of the games.

Probably. If ESPN doesn't get the CFP moved to that day, I would expect our marathon to be on that Saturday.

What makes the geographic area "reasonable"? I would think that travel time is the biggest factor, not location. Air travel today makes a 2000 mile trip today equivalent to what a 250 mile trip was 50 years ago when bus was the primary mode of travel for college teams. (Yes, I know that time zones factor in as well.)

I like Dayton as a candidate more than most here, but if NCAA consistency is what qualifies them, then I think the league should be leery because that's all a product of one coach and they haven't shown yet that they can sustain that beyond him. And they'll have to if they're going to bring value in that category because he probably isn't going to be there long.
