Gents,
We can all be very proud of what Villanova did this year. I will not criticize that team and I suggest that no one else does.
Presently, we have 10 teams until further notice. It is paramount that our Big East make some noise, in the form of an elite 8, final 4, or a Natty. To take part in that stage of the tourney will speak to our relevance as a conference.
As a fan going back to my undergraduate days at Marquette, I'd like to get all of your opinions on which program for our New Big East will finally crack the code (so to speak) and represent us in the elite 8, final 4, championship game, or as national champions.
My personal opinion, and I may be biased, is that Wojo will make the elite 8 in two years and end our drought. He is a recruiting Wunderkind.
Please forgive me if you thought I was overly negative since the weekend happened. Like all of you, I'm just trying to put aside my allegiances and looks for answers like everyone else. YES, I DO BELIEVE SUCCESS IN THE TOURNEY TRUMPS EVERYTHING, but I understand if that wasn't a popular message. Like all of you, I am sick to my stomach when we make early exits.
Villanova was our starchild this year. When they lost to NC State, I felt it in my bones as I'm sure all of you did.
So now, like all of you, I'm going to root for X to BEAT ARIZONA; and possibly win a Natty this year. How would we all feel if that happens? What will national perception of the new Big East be then, eh?
So, I guess that ties into my question. NBE fans, who do YOU think will snag our first Natty as a conference? And, once we have the said Natty, can we finally come on this board and not have to argue with other NBE fans? Seriously, I understand the divide between the realist posters and the "positive" posters. I hate trying to choose my words so carefully after a weekend like we had, because some people sense that I wasn't satisfied and was looking for answers.
