I's say their basketball tradition stacks up favorably to Creighton (who many people weren't aware of until Doug McDermott - who only played in the NBE one year).
You're delusional. They've won one conference tournament and two conference regular seasons since 2000. They have appeared in five NCAA tournaments since 2000.
Creighton has won seven conference tournaments and four conference regular seasons since 2000. They have appeared in five NCAA tournaments since 2000. Creighton has far more NCAA TOurnament appearances in its entire program history than UAB, too.
Creighton tops UAB quite easily.

Creighton was in a mid major when it racked up those stats... while UAB was playing Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis, Marquette, DePaul, St Louis, Charlotte, etc, etc, etc..
Creighton wouldn't have won anything in that conference. UAB was always among the top teams.

I think the AAC could easily raid Wichita St, VCU, UAB, among others to round out their basketball membership. However, I think for the time being, the AAC wants to grow their brand organically vs through addition. They have years on their new TV deal... they have plenty of time to wait before pulling the trigger on expansion.

If the Big East is so lame, why are all these fans of so called better schools looking to get in so badly. Why are Dayton fans on here telling us how much better they are -so they could join our group of under achievers? Now it's UAB? Thanks gang - we're good at ten.
