I's say their basketball tradition stacks up favorably to Creighton (who many people weren't aware of until Doug McDermott - who only played in the NBE one year).

You're delusional. They've won one conference tournament and two conference regular seasons since 2000. They have appeared in five NCAA tournaments since 2000.
Creighton has won seven conference tournaments and four conference regular seasons since 2000. They have appeared in five NCAA tournaments since 2000. Creighton has far more NCAA TOurnament appearances in its entire program history than UAB, too.
Creighton tops UAB quite easily.

Didn't I see stever say that UAB's win in the 1st rd was their first win in 10 years in the tourney?

Creighton was in a baby conference when it racked up those stats... while UAB was playing Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis, Marquette, DePaul, St Louis, Charlotte, etc, etc, etc..

Creighton wouldn't have won anything in that conference. UAB was always among the top teams.

Creighton was in a mid major when it racked up those stats... while UAB was playing Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis, Marquette, DePaul, St Louis, Charlotte, etc, etc, etc..

Creighton wouldn't have won anything in that conference. UAB was always among the top teams.

If what you are saying is true, Why hasn't UAB dominated C-USA since all of those teams left the conference(save Memphis)?

Also, this is the 4th straight year that UAB finished with a sub 100 RPI(even after the upset win!)

UAB should reunite with it's old CUSA friends in the AAC. They would be a good add to balance Navy's FB only membership.

I agree that UAB is a much better fit for the AAC, especially now that they've dropped football. I think the AAC could easily raid Wichita St, VCU, UAB, among others to round out their basketball membership. However, I think for the time being, the AAC wants to grow their brand organically vs through addition. They have years on their new TV deal... they have plenty of time to wait before pulling the trigger on expansion.

Actually I think their TV deal is already finishing year 2 of 7. So would think It would happen maybe 2 years from now, right before they start negotiating...

UAB would be about 5th or 6th on their list. VCU, Wichita way ahead of them. UAB just isn't that good in basketball....

We are not expanding. There is no need to. If we were expanding, UAB would not be considered because they should not be considered. If the Big East is so lame, why are all these fans of so called better schools looking to get in so badly. Why are Dayton fans on here telling us how much better they are -so they could join our group of under achievers? Now it's UAB? Thanks gang - we're good at ten.

I think 1 thing that could get interesting. What if Fox comes to the Big East and say we need you to expand to help with the ratings.

They won't. Expansion won't improve ratings. How would adding Dayton, or VCU make our ratings better? Are they pulling in big numbers? So if ratings for Villanova / Seton Hall are not that great, following it with Dayton / St. Louis will make the numbers go up? All it will do is increase inventory but Fox does not need inventory at this point. We have our contract with Fox and it has 10 more years on it. Everyone wants "now". Fox has to be better than ESPN now. We have to make it to the final four now. If not, we have to add teams to our league that will not make it even marginally better. It has been two years. There is no need to expand at all. Not one good reason to do it.
