The word is that Dayton and the ACC have been in talks to add them to the conference (minus football I guess. does Dayton have football?). The ACC thinks the Dayton grab gives them Pitt, ND, U of L, and Dayton in this geographic area and increases its footprint in the midwest giving the ACC 4 schools. If this rumor is accurate, it will be tough to get Miller from Dayton to go anywhere whethe rit be DePaul or Pitt or anywhere else.

I cannot imagine the ACC going after Dayton without a football program. Where did you read this?

If the ACC wants a school in Ohio, they will take Cincy. Dayton got a break having two home games. Let's not get crazy.

Dayton to the ACC is about as believable as Kim Jong il's golfing skills.
Archie Miller, while 5-1 in the NCAA as the worst seed in every game, her remains winless at 0-1 in the NIT. Deal breaker IMO.

Bryce Drew - great coaching bloodlines, local recruiting, and has coaching experience already. May be tough to convince him to leave Valpo though

Archie Miller - I know it is a long-shot but you gotta at least call this guy IMO. To me he'd be the home run hire

Bryce Drew would be a magnificent pick up for DePaul. He likely knows the Chicago Public School talent pool better than most w/ his proximity at Valpo.

Forget Miller: 1) He wants the Pitt job which could open next year if Dixon doesn't turn it around; 2) Vincentian schools care more about serving the poor than athletics and will not pay him. Nice narrative, but DePaul and St. John's both paid their coaches over $2 million in 2014, ranked 3rd and 4th in the Big East.

I stand corrected. But I'm glad you were moved by my words. Still like Drew as the replacement.

Honestly, a great example of a difference in priorities is my graduate alma mater Duquesne. They spend so much of their money on service in Pittsburgh and institutions in Africa. Combine that with the usual administrative glut of universities and you get a school that's pretty cheap elsewhere, including basketball coach salary. They're still invested enough to hope that a coach can turn that program around so that it's not miserable, but they aren't putting in the big bucks.
