Rough night dmac, but you all will win a tourney game soon with Cooley at the helm.

Dayton getting to play in Columbus was and is ridiculous.

Dayton beat a 3 seed Syracuse team last year in......Buffalo...in front of about 18K Syracuse fans. Oh well....

This was Dayton's 5th game in 8 days. Sunday will be 6th in 10 days.

interesting tweet from ESPN:

Providence played like a sedated frog in the rain tonight. No doubt. But that T was, to my knowledge, literally unprecedented.

Big Difference. 3 seeded team EARNED that home court advantage. last team in the field on the other hand..... DIDN'T.

Do the refs always cheat for dayton this bad? That was gross

I did not gain any respect for dayton tonight. Archie Miller should have gone over to the refs and asked them to make their cheating less obvious. That was real bad.

They were a 3 seed. You are an 11 seed. You should never have been placed in Columbus region.

Next year providence is hosting first round. I hope we get placed at the dunk as an 11 I'd pencil us into the sweet 16 right now.

dmac80 wrote:Sorry guys it's a huge embarrassment and letdown for the program and conference. The streak of losing in the NCAA burns us. Trust me we're all vomiting over this. Every time this program has national attention (with the notable exception of the bet final last year) we puke on ourselves. This has been going on for near 2 decades. No doubt Ed Cooley has raised our profile but until we win a NCAA game we haven't arrived.

And I know it's not why we lost but I still have a bad taste in my mouth about an "11 seed" with the RPI dayton had being given what will now amount to 3 home games. 30 free throws to 7? Again they were the better team tonight and we were embarrassingly bad so I'm not saying that's why we lost. But the whole thing stinks to high heaven as far as I'm concerned. And I say all that speaking for myself only not all of the friar family.

dmac, you summed it up pretty well.

Sorry fellow BE fans, definitely a winnable game. Dayton has a good gritty team and they have great fans, and I'll be rooting for them until they bump into a BE team. The crowd wasn't a factor really, we've played in more hostile settings.

I absolutely hate calling out the zebras, i don't think I've complained about them ever at the Holy Land, but the big factor was their absolutely horrible, comical reffing... impossible to get in a rhythm with those f**kers killing us. Impossibly lopsided, i mean 30-7 free throw attempts, and out of respect for Dunn and Henton, i can't not mention the refs.

Seriously, has there ever been a college hoops game where it was 30-7...? That has to be a record.

Anyway, please keep up the good work X, VU, GU and Butler...!!! By tomorrow night at this time, I'd like 4 Sweet-16 BE teams.

And again, to Dayton lurkers, congrats on a great win, you should be proud of your Flyers. Kick the crap out of the football schools...!

Very good season by PC. You guys got totally jobbed by the refs whether it affected the game or not. Dayton gets 3 home games as an 11 seed WTF?! That could have easily been switched to make it more neutral. Ridiculous.

I feel for Friar fans because us SJ fans are in the same boat. We will get national attention and impress, then when the spotlight is on us we fade. Same thing. The only difference (and it's a big one) is that you guys have a real coach with a plan and knows how to recruit. Lavin is a zero. SJU is going to finish 10th next year which is going to be agonizing. I can take a year off if we have a set plan and exciting recruits to look forward to. But we have no plan with Lavin. The fact that he's looking overseas tells you he's waving the white flag here on recruiting.

Lol, and this is relevant how? Syracuse was the higher seed. Lower seeds shouldn't be gifted home games.

Crowds like that make a huge difference, especially on the refs. Not surprised at all that the refs favored Dayton with a crowd like that.

Hats off to Dayton and their fans, though. They played a great game and they have great fans that really show up.

On the Providence side, I thought Henton forced up waaayyyyy too many bad shots going 1 on 1. I thought it killed them and prevented them from getting any rhythm.
