He is a college kid, they make mistakes, but this is the same clown who was thrown out of a couple of games for a complete cheap shot and has had other issues as well. Just very selfish. St. John's is solid but they are not deep at all, especially when it comes to bigs. Obepka is going to be a blow and I think St. John's is going to be in trouble because of it. With Obepka I believed they even had a shot at Duke. Now, not so much. I'll be rooting for them regardless!

Calm down, it just shows that Lavin and the SJU program has more class than other universities. Jameis Winston was suspended a HALF for stealing from a store.

He's not a clown, just a kid who has made some mistakes. I'm sure when you were in college you never did ANYTHING stupid.

I'm so sick of grown adults looking down their noses at college kids for their actions, like they were angels who always carried themselves with nothing but class and dignity every single day on this earth. Give me a break.

Dude, Obepka, really? The kid has put you into some bad positions. I hate people who treat 22 year olds like 5 year olds and cry about fair criticism. He is a young man now. Time to smarten up. The kid wasn't thinking about his teammates and the program when he made the decision he did and you guys are now screwed because of it. You guys are not going to be back to the dance for awhile. There was no reason for this kid to screw it up for you this time.

Oh well im glad Chestrockwell has decided that we wont be back in the dance for years because a JUNIOR smoked some weed.

He's 21 and made a mistake. I made plenty of them when I was 21. I hate when people treat college kids who aren't being paid as professionals. He didn't screw me out of anything, i'm just a fan. You don't think he realizes his mistake? Thank god we have a coach like Lavin who cares more about winning and losing games and actually cares about these kids. Kid just learned a very important life lesson. Hopefully he comes back as improved player and person next season.

I also don't understand why a Nova fan is so upset over this while I an actual Johnny are not.

Kids can ;earn from mistakes. I'm sure you don't refer to Pinkston as a clown do you?

Villanova has missed 1 tournament in the last 10 years. I am not defending Pinkston but it certainly didn't hurt us the way Obepka will hurt you. We are upset because Louisville, Syracuse, UConn are no longer walking through that door. We need ALL Big East teams to do well now for the good of the Big East. Look at the comradery that exists between Big East schools now. That never used to happen. I have never rooted for Big East teams in the tournament the way I do now. I know that goes for most Big East fans as well. St. John's has been a disappointment. In the old Big East, it didn't matter because we had so many other big time schools that could pick up the slack. We don't have that anymore. You do realize that next year is a HUGE question mark for St. John's right? If I were you I would not be thrilled with Lavin or the state of the program. There is nothing right now that tells me St. John's is going to be in good shape next year.

If you are happy with doing OK! That is fine, but most people would like to see more from the Big East's NYC member.

If Harrison gets hot the Johnnies cruise to a victory. Me and my boy Obekpa will smoke a fatty blunt to celebrate.

So, are you saying that Obekpa's actions are worse than Pinkston's because of how they affect the respective programs? If you're really employing that consequentialist morality, I guess that's fine, but I'm going to stick with the belief that putting two guys in the hospital is worse than smoking a joint. Frankly, I might be in disagreement with our prison system on that count, but that doesn't really trouble me.

Pinkston was provoked. I am not defending him but let's not make it look like he walked into a party and started to throw fists. He has done everything in his power to correct the situation and he has behaved appropriately since then. Also, that was OVER 4 years ago. I am talking about a player, an upperclassman, who has been suspended twice in the last month and a half. You guys are starting to nitpick and it is CRAP. Also, I have heard of this thing called google as well. I mean I can start googling things like the brawl that took place in 2011 and lead to 4 Xavier players being suspended(Pinkston's thing happened in 2010 by the way so even FURTHER back) and using that as ammo.....BUT THAT STILL DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT IT IS CRAP!

Jfc let it go people. He's not going to play tonight regardless of how you feel how upset someone else should be about it.

Obekpa was suspended ONCE, not twice. If you're going to play the outraged card at least be right about the facts. Lavin didn't start him for a half after the forearm shiver and in the first 7 seconds back Obekpa hurt his ankle. 4 year or 4 weeks who gives a chit. No one cares what you think of Obekpa, you have single handidly derailed this thread. Congrats.

I guess my point before this started to get off topic and we were started to google each team's history in order to take shots at each other and not focus on what has happened WITHIN THE LAST 2 MONTHS, was that I really want to see ALL Big East teams do well. If you looked at my prior posts I said I think marijuana is pretty much a joke and it might as well be like chewing gum, I even ON MY OWN, brought up Reggie Redding at Villanova getting caught for weed to acknowledge the fact it HAPPENS EVERYWHERE. It still doesn't change the fact that this kid, especially after being suspended in February, really needs to work on his decision making but the choices he makes don't just hurt him but it hurts his team as well. I guess we will see how much it hurts his team tonight.

PS - why don't you take a look at this FIFTY page thread on redmen.com. It looks like some of your SJU brethren aren't taking the news as well as you are. Best of luck to you in the tournament and next year.
