No one has mentioned Bryce Drew (Valparaiso). He would be a tremendous and realistic hire for DePaul.

He's probably got plenty of connections in the Chicagoland area.

Let's be realistic here. DePaul is gonna have to pull someone from the mid-major level. No high-major coach is taking this job.

Also, he briefly played with the Bulls, apparently. Definitely interesting.

Last time around Chris Lowery and one of the local Irvin brothers (AAU Mac Irvin Fire) were strong candidates. Would not be surprised if they make another run at the job. The Irvin connection would be good for local recruiting in Chicago.

Name corrected. Thanks

I think bringing back Dave Leitao would be a good option if they cannot land an all-star head coach (currently Assistant Coach at Tulsa). During his 3 seasons at DePaul he got the Blue Demons into the NCAA Tournament one (2nd Round) and 2 NITs. He held many pep rallies at the DePaul Student Center before he left for the University of Virginia where he was eventually fired after 2 seasons. I think DePaul needs a new athletic director to pick the new coach as the current one, Jean Lenti Ponsetto seems to only care about the women's athletic teams and obviously is a poor chooser of head coaches as she hired Jerry Wainwright and Oliver Purnell, who should have been fired after his 3rd season at DePaul. Purnell has never won an NCAA Tournament game. DePaul still has 2 seasons left in Rosemont, IL at the Allstate Arena, before the 2017-2018 season when they'll play at the McCormick Place Events Center on Chicago's Near South Side in the Prairie District neighborhood across the street from McCormick Place's West Building. And a new head coach and AD will hopefully make a good start when they start playing in Chicago again in 2017.

Dana Altman. His contract is close to being done at Oregon.

Amazing that Ben Howland and some other big names are getting thrown around, that would be great for DePaul. I think they should look for a hot shot young recruiter type of coach. If they can't get that, get the biggest name available.

Anthony Grant just fired by 'Bama. Went 117-85, 3 20-W seasons in the six he was there.
1 NCAA and 2 NITs.

He had signed an extension, so he has a few years the university is buying out.

The only "retread" coach I could see as a possibility is Howland. Grant should not be a candidate, nor Craig Robinson.

I suspect it will be a younger coach, in the mold of Bryce Drew, Bobby Hurley, maybe Brian Wardle (no NCAA appearance hurts him)
