Black for Black's Sake Big East Basketball Uniforms

I noticed that DePaul, Xavier, and Butler all have road black uniform options even though black is a school color of none of these schools. DePaul's colors are Royal Blue and Scarlet, Xavier's colors are Xavier (Navy) Blue, Silver Gray, and White and Butler's colors are Butler (Navy) Blue and White. Also, St. John's colors are Red and White, and they have dark blue, gray and black uniforms also. Seton Hall has a black uniform even though their school colors are Blue, White, and Gray. Providence College is the only Big East Conference school with black as a school color as they are black, white, and silver.

Marketing. Money. The more options you give the consumer, the more tastes you will satisfy.

Pretty sure Butler has worn black for their road uniforms
For a long time.

I hate Xavier's black unis. I know David West wore them
In the early 2000s but it just doesn't look like Xavier to me.

X is 3-0 against Georgetown when wearing them.

I'd gladly sacrifice Xavier's black jerseys, if they also give up the grey ones. I pretty much hate all grey jerseys/uniforms for any team in any sport (except Georgetown maybe, idk why). To me its like, "Hey, we have unlimited color options for our neutral jerseys. Let's go with the blandest color possible."


Edit: Maybe not unlimited colors, but still something like variants of team colors, third primary color (if the school has one), throwback jerseys/colors, etc.

When Butler was in the Horizon League they had navy blue road uniforms.
