Big East Tournament Bars

Postby aoredhawk33 » Sun Mar 08, 2015 9:43 am

Hey all,

Growing up in NJ, I was raised on Big East basketball. MSG became my second home in March. I watched Jake Voshkul dominate the SJU big men in the late 90's, I stormed the court when Marcus Hatten made the GW free throw to beat Duke, I paid way too much money to sit in the rafters to see Pitino beat Boeheim in the last 'old' Big East tournament game.

I am finally fulfilling a life-long dream of mine...

I bought an all-session ticket to the Big East tournament.

Id love to check out the different fan bases for pregame and postgame celebrations. I've always gone to Stout, across from MSG, but are there any official alumni based hangouts?

Stout is usually a good crowd. On the northwest side of msg is an irish bar called tir na nog that has a good crowd. On the south side you get the mustang bars that I always confuse. Brother Jimmy's is another one.

Mustang Harry's is the first one you hit going from the Garden and they have a great bar and a great menu. Lot's of fans there. Mustang Sally's (Harry's ex-wife) is the one a block or so further down.

I haven't been but Mustang Harry's is oft cited as a good NYC gathering place for PC fans.

Per an email from the University, Butler fans will gather at American Whiskey, 247 West 30th Street (between 7th and 8th). http://www.americanwhiskeynyc.com/ This will be our official gathering spot throughout the Big East tournament.
