Syracuse investigation results

Looks like Boeheim is suspended 9 games and the Orange lose 12 scholarships. Also vacate a bunch of wins and pay $500/game fine.

EDIT: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketb ... ed-9-games
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

"The school must return to the NCAA all funds it has received to date through the former Big East Conference revenue sharing for its appearances in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament,"

How much is that?

lets see.
2011- 2 units
2012- 4 units
2013- 5 units

so 2012 they would have been paid for 2 units
2013 would be 6 units
2014 would be 11 units

but the units stuck with what is now the AAC. So I would think they would have gotten at most 8 units(or roughly 2 million dollars).

What's interesting is do those units just go poof? If so, the AAC would lose $$$, as the units that Syracuse earned were parked there.

S'cuse should have received the 2 year postseason ban and forfeited the 2003 championship as well. S'cuse got off with a moderate punishment IMO. 11 years of cheating - moderate punishment - and back to cheating in 2016.

Has a team ever been stripped of a national championship? Would the runner up then become the NC? I can't recall it ever happening. I never felt that the NCAA would have stripped Memphis of the NC for the Derrick Rose violations if they had beaten Kansas. They would have found a way, imo, to let Memphis keep the title.

i never really looked into it, but when a team vacates a win, does the team they beat get a win on their record or is it recorded as though the game was never played?

I think the team loses the win, but the loss still counts.

The other team does not get the wins, they are simply 'vacated'.

As for Cuse, couldn't happen to a nice coach, program and fan base.
