Basketball Power Index - ESPN

The Basketball Power Index (BPI) is a team rating system that accounts for the final score, pace of play, site, strength of opponent and absence of key players in every Division I men's game. BPI can be used to measure both how well a team has performed (going far beyond just wins and losses) and how powerful it is likely to be going forward.

I do not put much stock in this ESPN ranking however since the Big East does extremely well in this ranking (7 teams in the top 60 nationally) I will include it here.

The St. John's win over Xavier at X has shaken the RPI ratings as SJU and XU have reversed place in the rankings. If X loses their game with UC next week they may be NIT bound. I hope not.

It looks with the ESPN RPI that they are using the old formula- I know dance card does- and that has St John's RPI using the old formula at 34- same as espn.
