Yes, because it will get Fox Sport 2 going.

I wouldn't say that's a lock. Cable companies see the ratings the Big East has gotten. Why would they upgrade FS2 to get those?

What are the chances they get the PAC 12? That would give us the East Coast timezone and they get the west coast?

none for a while more than what they have already. I think this is year 3 of a 12 year deal.

Lets be honest with ourselves...a conference of private, mainly northeastern basketball schools isn't going to be enough to anchor a national ESPN competitor. Real basketball fans may be willing to watch our matchups, but that isn't enough to validate the deal we have currently.

Fox Sports needs another brand, and a big one. One which will get more eyes for more of the year. If they could get the B1G, they would shore up eyes in football season, and get the eyes of the fans which currently just turn on ESPN and watch whatever game they have on.

Yeah, we'd be second fiddle. But we'd be second fiddle to what is generally considered the best sports conference in the country; everyone would be second fiddle to them, and in a football-centric world, we'll be second fiddle to any other P5 conference. Fox Sports needs another brand, or not only will we not get a $500 million contract next time around, but we'll get left with nothing besides running back to ESPN because FS1 will be closing up shop.

There aren't enough B1G games to push us off TV. It's a good thing that Fox expands it's viewership.

I didn't say the Big 10 would push the Big East off TV. What will happen is the Big Ten will get their pick of the time slots and dates and then the Big East will chose next. Likely the UFC will get first pick over basketball. It's all economics, who pulls in the viewers. Yes we agree that it's a good thing for Fox to expand it's viewership. That will be their focus, on how to maximize their income, i.e., where and how they can pull in more viewers.

Oh so the conference picks the date and time of the games? Thats funny, I would think we wouldn't pick 9pm est start times on a weeknight.

It doesn't matter what they pick. Minny/Nebraska isn't going to push Nova/Gtown off FS1. Fox gets the final say guys, they are the ones who write the checks (if they win the B1G rights). Also remember that the B1G games that would be on FS2 would just end up on the BTN instead.

First its bad for FS1 and us that they have no other properties now its a bad thing if we get another top notch conference to sign with Fox. Make up you mind guys about what is bad for us. It seems like it's everything at this point. If you don't see the benefit of sharing FS1 with the B1G then you wont see any positives in anything. Guess what guys, sharing FS1 with one other conference is better than sharing ESPN with every other conference. Get over it.

There are 7 days in a week. Sure, the B1G will priority and some of our games will get moved to FS2 but getting B1G will move us on competition with ESPN2 as far as ratings and that will be a good thing for Fox. If its good for Fox, its good for us.

Exactly! Plus you get the average fan to tune in. Nebraska fans (non-alumni) watching the Huskers play sees a commercial for the upcoming Creighton game and that night they have nothing going on so they tune in. Same thing with Wisc/Marq, OSU/X, IU/Pur/Butler, Ill/NW/DePaul etc etc etc.

B1G isn't making a decision based off of current ratings. They are going to take what puts the most cash in their pockets. TV contract, advertising fees, etc. FS1 can get them by paying regardless of the current FS1 place in the world.
