Xavier really blew this one. Not to take anything away from Seton Hall. They are definitely a tourney team and will only be moreso next year, but X had the game and gave it away.

I think it was almost at the 10 minute mark X was in double bonus and Seton had 4 on Desi and someone else (Gibbs?). The momentum was in our favor and then Myles Davis decides to get chippy with Gibbs and draws a double technical. From that point forward the momentum was with Hall and we lost favor with the refs. If I was Mack, I would've pulled Myles right there and told him to STFU. Instead, he stayed in the rest of the game and more or less cost us the game. Still, fun game to watch, high-caliber basketball.

Unless we go on some kind of huge streak beating Nova, Butler, and G'Town I don't see how this team makes the tourney. And even if we are on the bubble and need some BET wins to get an at large bid, we have to be among the worst teams in terms of how deep we go in the BET. I can't remember this team ever making a run in the BET in the last decade. We always seem to lose immediately in it.

Great game by St John's. Held the lead for final 30 minutes. The Friars cut it to 2 under 10 minutes, but Harrison drilled a 3, and Obekpa and Pointer had some insane clean blocks right under the hoop. Crowd was loud on tv. Back and forth action, physical play, intense drama... reminded me of why I'm a big college basketball fan.

For a change, I kinda liked having the XU vs Seton Hall game on at the same time. During timeouts i could flip over and watch another great game. Reminded me of baseball pennant race scoreboard watching. Huge crowd in Newark too.

Yeah, that's true.

Looks like 6 teams are RPI 34 or better, and St John's is at 52 as of right now.

In other games, Davidson lost to RPI 179 St Joe's, and George Washington is losing to URI at the half by around 10.
So, Davidson and GW are in the mid-40's. I really don't see Davidson holding on to an NCAA bid over the next month... just too many landmines in-conference.

And St John's, as much as people are down on them, are right in the hunt, and get to play against many high RPI opponents.

That St. Joes loss killed any chance at Davidson having an at large bid

It was Delgado and Whitehead who went to the bench with 4 fouls with 10 minutes to play. I agree that was a great chance for Xavier to take control, but I wouldn't say they had it and gave it away. It was very back and forth and I'm not sure they ever lead by more than 4 in the second half.

Like others have said, today was a great result for the Big East as far as bids. Sju stays on the bubble, Butler will stay ranked and hopefully Georgetown will stay ranked.

That was the worst Creighton basketball game I have ever seen. It was awful. We just suck. There's no two ways about it.
I appreciate the fact that the doubters at the beginning of the year haven't rubbed it in. Thanks for the classiness.

I agree. We are just really bad right now. On the good news front, we are helping to maximize the number of BE teams in the NCAA. I'm certain the team won't give up, but we are lacking in team ability and athleticism!

I'm not worried about Creighton. You guys still fight and even knocked off my Johnnies full of veterans. Obviously losing some of the top players in all of college hoops will be a huge blow to any team unless you're UK. Though it's a rough year (understandably for CU), I just get a sense of confidence from your program. Coach McDermott seems to know what he's doing and Creighton is like shooters U. All you need are some rugged bodies to be able to score down low and a few more athletic bodies. The shooters will never be a problem with Creighton. I have always said if SJU and CU combined teams, we'd be the #1 team in the Big East. SJU needs shooters and CU needs athleticism, blocks, and more grit.
