well if tonight was close to a must win for St John's, Saturday is a must win for St John's. St John's with 11 games to go 6-5 to even have a prayer of getting on the bubble. After tonight, their RPI is down to 59.

At least Seton Hall won tonight.

It's still too early to say that. While things certainly don't look good, the great thing about this conference is that they still have plenty of opportunities to play their way in. They still have 8 top 50 rpi games left on the schedule, 7 of which are top 30 and 4 of which are at home. 4-4 in those games still leaves them with a pretty solid resume highlighted by 6 top 50 wins.

Probably no one since Creighton went 9-4 and only had one bad loss out of conference. The problem with DePaul is that they went 5-7 out of conference, and three of those losses were to teams outside of the top 150 RPI.

Sad but true. All the optimism and high expectations are officially down the drain. At least they gave us a good November and December before reality set in. Now we'll just have to deal with the usual disappointment that's become standard with rooting for this team. Can't believe I got sucked in again.

That sounds fine- but do you really expect them to go 4-4 against Providence, @ Butler, @ Xavier, @ Georgetown, Seton Hall, Xavier, Georgetown, and @ Villanova? If they can go 4-4 they would get in(with no more losses to Creighton, DePaul, or Marquette). They have chances, but especially if they drop the next 2 to Providence and Butler- it's pretty much over for them.

Tough to beat the top teams in the conference when you're consistently so hapless against the bottom teams. They worked their way up to a 15 ranking and since then have promptly lost 6 of the next 7. Simply pathetic.

I didn't say it would be easy, but with challenge comes opportunity. And there's no shortage of it in this league. St. John's has shown, most recently in the Duke game, that they're capable of playing with anybody when they really get up for a game. They showed it against Gonzaga too. They need to learn that they can't only come to play when the opponent has a little number next to their name. You need to come to play every day in this league to be successful and if the Johnnies can figure that out soon, they still have a chance.
