I'd rather have Gonzaga than BYU. I'd rather have BYU than Creighton. I'd rather have Creighton than DePaul. I'd rather have DePaul than Saint Mary's. Any of the above are far better than Dayton, Richmond, St. Joe's, SLU, Davidson, Valparaiso, Detroit, Oakland, Bradley, Drake, Evansville, Loyola-Chicago, Siena, or any other school that fits the academic profile.

Ultimately, what's done is done. I don't want to see the Big East expand past 10 members, so I don't want to see anyone added unless someone else leaves.

What's done is done. However, a 14 team BE is best.

Add Duke, Wake Forest, Temple or Memphis, and the Zags.
Would be a great conference.

Don't take the bait from this troll. I think most of these responses are pretty much on track. We don't have a go to guy and we would have 2-4 wins so far if we did. Mac is a great coach. Chatman has dropped off after the preseason (which I didn't expect), Hanson hasn't shown the promise we saw last year (though I think he still will prove it), and Zierden getting hurt (again) doesn't help. However, Mac did recruit well for the transition. The two transfers in PG Watson ( who was top 100 out of hs and at Boston U ) and Cole Huff (transfer from Nevada) were both targeted by 10-20 top BCS teams. They have proven themselves on the court and wanted to play at the next level. As stated, we got 3 recruits coming in next year including top 50-60 player in 6"11 center Patton from Omaha. He blew up in the AAU circuit but CU had him committed early. Our returning guys with Hanson, Hegner, Zierden are solid and we will look a lot differnt next year with their growth and the transfers. Even in this tough year, I love watching the Big East games on Fox Sports 1! Knowing these teams makes it so much more fun to watch them when they come to town.

CU will be fine and as more recruits see what Creighton and Omaha have to offer. I think things look good. The staff realized the jump up would be tough for a bit, but no one thought it would be like this for the year.

Not trying to troll... just giving an honest and logical opinion. The Big East made their bed with DePaul and has paid for it. Regardless, I want our conference to be the most balanced and competitive in the country and I want CU to succeed. But I have to admit... What I have seen thus far from CU in conference play is far too familiar as a DePaul fan and I know how much is sucks. I've seen CU fans on this site quick to bash DePaul and I think they are finally realizing what a mans league this is and if you don't have all the horses you will get exposed badly.

You seem to forget that we were 14-4 in the BE last year and won a game in the NCAA tourney for the 3rd straight year. Not many teams can claim the same. We're down this year as expected but still have 17000 fans at every game. Seems like an odd time to be kicking dirt on Creighton.

Didn't realize this. Seems pretty unusual to redshirt a Top 100 but I'm sure they had their reasons.

Keno Davis used to redshirt a lot at PC. It worked out great with Kadeem Batts. The reason I don't love it now is because of the 5th year transfer rule (not saying this will happen with Harrell, but it's something for coaches to think about).

Good point on the transfer rule and how it can change the dynamic for redshirts.

Harrell was a classic RS, IMO. He's a kid who has a very high skill level and high ceiling, but clearly needed a year of S&C to prepare for the Big East. He grew from 5-8 as a freshman in HS to 6-7 as a senior in HS and his frame has a lot of catching up to do. I think he gained 20lbs since arriving on campus. He really needed the Toby Hegner plan (gain weight and tighten up his shooting mechanics during a RS year).

In retrospect we could have used another shooter with Zierden going down with the injury, but I'm happy we saved the year of eligibility.

As others have noted - the two best players on the team are sitting out after the transfer (Huff and Watson), Harrell will be eligible for next year, Hanson and Hegner will be a year better with Zierden and Milliken back as well. We should have more length and athleticism, and importantly, have a couple of guys who can close games for us offensively. In particular Watson is a playmaker, Huff can score in a lot of different ways inside, outside and in transition, and I think Hegner will develop into a scorer as a stretch 4 who can also play the 5.

Yeah, I mean unless we can get 7 more Doug McDermotts, the league might as well kick out CU and add Gonzaga.

If it was logistically feasible, everybody would like to add Gonzaga. But Creighton brings a ton to this league. One down season is just that. One season. This will be only the second time since 1998 that we failed to reach 20 wins. Creighton isn't going anywhere.

I take it you've never been to Omaha.

Yep. It was an interesting move, but I think one that nearly everyone agrees was the right call. He's a wiry 6-8 SG who needed to add weight. I'm thankful they didn't use a year of his eligibility this season, given the way it's gone. Frankly, I wish they would've redshirted Gilmore as well. Next season, the Jays will have the most talented roster (on paper) they've ever had.

Patton (top 50) - C
Harrell (top 100) - SG
Watson Jr.(top 100) - PG
Gilmore (top 100) - SF/PF
Huff (all Mountain West as a Soph.) - SF/PF

There has never ever been a point where we've had four top-100 guys on the active roster. Frankly, I'm not sure there's ever been a point where we had more than one, given that we were recruiting to the Missouri Valley. And by all accounts, Huff may be the best player on our roster right now. That is a big reason the fan base isn't in total meltdown mode this season. We know there is help on the way. It may not be a top-3 Big East roster next season, but we will see a raw talent upgrade at literally every position, and should be competitive.

Unfortunately Mac won't play any of those guys... his starting lineup and rotation will be Clement, Zierden, Connealy, Hegner, Hanson and Groselle... we'll go winless in conference again and wear pink every game. We'll look like pussies but Mac will brag about how proud he is of their effort and hard work.

People, you do realize Creighton has one of the better rosters in the league next year?

Jeez!!! One bad season and we wanna kick them out the league?! Please don't do this to St. John's when they suck next year. we will all have a down year here and there. Doesn't mean we kick a team out the league. Still have the best attendance, and I can count on one hand the amount of tournament appearances for St. John's, DePaul, and seton hall combined the last decade.

CU usually is in the tournament, barring a down year. Bet they make it next year.
