DOES ANYONE HAVE INFORMATION ON CURRENT FOX SPORTS NETWORK RATINGS FOR THE BIG EAST?

Does anyone on this site have information concerning Big East TV ratings on Fox Sports 1 & 2 this year? I have searched the net and must be looking in the wrong places for current Fox TV ratings. I am trying to find if we have improved over the disaster that was last year. Hopefully there will be some significant improvement. If not I suspect we are in trouble. I believe our significantly improved on court performance this year will be a big help.

Please post any links you may have to current season Fox Sports rating numbers. Thank you

Some quotes from a story about Fox Sports written in January of 2014 on a Marquette site.

As you can see from the chart above, FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 are trailing all the other national networks when it comes to Big East viewership, which is not a good sign as those two channels will have a majority of the conference games. But a simple chart with no explanation or analysis serves no one, so we broke it down a little further.

FS1 had the most Big East games of any channel, broadcasting 48 of the 85 national TV games. Of those 48 games, 41 had a rating of 0, five had a rating of 0.1, and two had a rating of 0.2. While these are definitely underwhelming numbers, it shows the double edged sword that is extensive coverage. More games will be on national TV, but a good number of those games will be duds. Villanova vs. Towson took the crown as least watched game, drawing 8,000 viewers for the Sunday night tilt. Were ESPN still the Big East’s home base, this game would have been relegated to ESPN3 status and wouldn’t drag down the average.

There’s no way to sugarcoat the FS2 numbers. All 14 games failed to crack the 40,000 viewer mark and eight of those couldn’t even muster 8,000. Seton Hall’s game against Monmouth on Monday, Nov. 18 only had 1,000 people watching. At this point, FS2’s reach is so nonexistent it might actually be advantageous to be on a regional network. We are working on acquiring local broadcast numbers for the regional FOX stations. Any input would be appreciated.

The story gets worse so I will not continue.

Not scientific, but my impression is the conference games have had decent viewership this year, or at least better than last year. Awful Announcing puts out the FSN and NBCSN ratings weekly - just google for it every week.

This week: http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/nbcsn-f ... 12-18.html

UFC was obviously their major attraction but Butler at Seton Hall had 139,000/0.1. The only game under 40,000 was a Friday night slot, which is brutal across channels.

Also want to point out FSN's real competition is versus NBCSN and ESPN2, not ESPN.

Scroll down and look at the chart at the end. The BE getting their games to an average of 100,000 + huge ratings from MLB/UFC would get FS1 to a good position. I don't think we need to be pulling in a million viewers a game.

Villanova at Xavier on Sunday & CU at PC on Friday was a women's game. So, it was fine! Plus, they are missing some men's games like Butler at Georgetown.

Thanks MUPanther,

I guess I had hoped for more. The rankings for the week only average about 80.000 per game and if you consider that the top two rated games averaged over 133,000 the remainder truly is disappointing. It is somewhat of an improvement over last year but if you consider what we are being paid by Fox it certainly seems we should be pulling higher numbers. Let us hope the improvement accelerates rapidly. Now if the league averaged 133,000 per game perhaps we would be on track. I am amazed that UFC, a brutal sport has the type of viewership it does.

I remember when X was in the A10 an 80,000 viewer game would have been a success, however I also remember the old Big East would have games on ESPN which regularly had several hundred thousand viewers and occasionally over a million. Perhaps I was hoping for too much from Fox or our new Big East. After all the old BE had 16 teams and generally pulled 8 to 11 bids in the dance. Still I am a fan for life of X and the BE and we can learn to live with what we have until we are able to build an audience or expand with teams which have a larger fan base.

I wouldn't worry about the numbers. FOX needs the Big East. Your network is nothing without live programming. Last year, granted there was many title games on at the same time, the Pac-12 title game didn't get the best rating. So, it's not a Big East issue more than the common fan just doesn't think of turning on FS1. FS1 is growing and year 2 for the network and the league numbers are up. The Big East schools are not big in alumni. It's not like FS1 is getting killed by ESPNEWS, ESPNU or at times ESPN2.
Plus, FOX got some of their money back as they did a 5 year deal with CBS for Big East games.

Things will be even better this summer for FS1, with year two of MLB, Women's World Cup, Golf, MLS and Nascar. Most still hope that FOX can land at least 50% of the Big Ten deal in 2017.

In year 2 of college football on FS1 this past fall saw a 39% increase.

Sports Media Watch is another great site for ratings.

Ratings are double from where they were last year.

A big problem is that fox sports 1 still requires a digital cable subscription. It is not part of the basic cable package like espn and espn2. That really limits the viewers.
