not necessarily bashing depaul but just concerned about the rest of the league. depaul has talent with garret jr and hamilton. they actually regressed this season and are playing as if they just gave up on the coach. if they get it together for a game or two, they can absolutely cause some problems.

I root for all BE teams and like many here want to see as many teams making the dance. it's paramount to our success as a league. (tourney payout, exposure, recruiting, etc.)

Maybe its because I am coming from the A-10 where a majority of the teams had no hopes for post-season appearances. But people here really don't seem to give a shit about the conference season.

Does anyone remember the great games from last year? Creighton lighting up Nova x2. Xavier coming back to beat Georgetown opening day. Then Seton Hall and Providence in BET.

The NCAA tourney is great, but y'all need to try and enjoy the conference games as well.

Funny, because as a Creighton fan I think the conference season is the key to the whole season. The conference tournament is great and all but the round robin season is what makes the Big East special. I also find it humorous that Providence hung a banner and gave out rings as "Big East champs" after a 4th place finish in the league but that's just me.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

I dunno- to me, the BET is what makes the Big East special. The season builds up to that.

The winner of the Big East Tournament is the Conference Champion. It has always been that way in the Big East. If you ask who holds the most Big East Championships, its Georgetown and UConn with 7 each. Both have also won regular season championships but the league officially recognizes the tourney champion as the conference champion. St. John's, Syracuse, Louisville, all have similar banners hanging in their arenas.

One of the most intriguing games for me this year is Creighton at Nova. I just have to believe that the "BIG GET EVEN" is on Nova's mind, as they'll go for a can of major whoopass to get even with last year's demolition.

Love this conference and where it's headed. It's going to be a fun regular season.

You don't know the Big East then. I'm not sure how other conferences do it, but The BET has always been the crown jewel on the conference. Having the top conference record is impressive over the long haul, but in the end only 1 team is conference champion, the one who stood last at MSG. Otherwise what is the point of the tournament? Last year that was Providence. So they hang a banner. Every past BET champion (and thus league champion) has a banner hanging for that achievement. For 2014, Providence will be listed as champion in the media guide, not Villanova.

This is from the 2013-2014 Media guide prior to the most recent BET:

A year-by-year and sport-by-sport list of BIG EAST champions since the conference’s inception in the 1979-80 academic year. Teams listed
are those that won the respective BIG EAST postseason tournament or event with the following exceptions: men’s lacrosse champions are
based on regular-season standings in 2010 and 2011; women’s lacrosse champions are based on regular-season standings from 2001-06.

Luckily Georgetown( and Uconn) also have the most regular season titles in addition to the most Tournament titles.

You also have to remember that for the longest time the regular season was unbalanced so the tournament was the one place where there was equal footing.

Thanks. I'm just going to call the Patriots the champion of the AFC and wait for the Super Bowl because they won the AFC regular season.
