My power ratings so far

Postby stever20 » Tue Dec 09, 2014 11:20 am

I'd have to say-
1 Nova
2 Butler
3 Georgetown
4 St John's
5 Seton Hall
6 Xavier
7 Creighton
8 Marquette
9 Providence
10 DePaul

tonight is huge for the Hall- a win and I'd probably move them up to 3.

Not exactly sure how you have Georgetown ahead of Butler here?? Maybe if Georgetown beats Kansas... but even then they still have to overcome the fact that they lost to Butler on a neutral court argument. I think Butler needs to have more losses or Georgetown needs to have more/bigger wins for your power ratings to work.

Whoah, someone didn't rank us second to last!

....though I do think Marquette will be much better in conference play than many here expect. I think that Omaha game (Wojo's 2nd, mind you) really made everyone just assume we're awful.

Marquette is only 4-4 but outside of the Omaha loss, 3 losses to Ohio St, Mich St, and Wisconsin all by 11 points- isn't bad. 2 pretty good wins over Tennessee and Georgia Tech.

(oh and the Omaha game was the 3rd one- it was Tenn-Martin, Ohio St, then Omaha. Looking back that NJIT win was huge the 4th game!)

Just curious, what will it take for you to move DePaul up for 10th?

I've actually liked what I've seen from DePaul. But I still can't get over that Lehigh loss. I think DePaul has a chance to not be last year, but for now just based on the way they've played in conference the last few years, I keep them last. Here is my list by the way based on what I've seen from every team this year. No bias by the way (sarcasm)

1. Nova
2. St John's
3. Georgetown
4. Butler
5. Creighton
6. Seton Hall
7. Xavier
8. Providence
9. Marquette
10. DePaul

DePaul moreso than any of the other teams in the conference has their meat of the OOC schedule coming up. So far 1 good win but 1 awful loss. Everything else is just not that good competition wise. That changes with GW, Ill St, Ore St, and Colorado(plus 2 more in the tourney). Right now Ken Pom has their SOS being 344 or 8th worst.

Because I'm ranking teams based on my opinion and not solely on their resumes. I think Georgetown is Better than Butler. I think Georgetown was coming off a heart breaking loss to Wisconsin and it affected their play vs. Butler with a shorter turn around. I think when they play each other again Georgetown will win. I thought we were better than Butler for most of the game and made some freshman mistakes that lead to the loss, the team has improved since then and will continue to get better through out the year.
