Excellent week. For tomorrow....

NOTE: + means they gained spots from the prior week (for example- Nova was #12 last week and #10 this week in the AP so they are +2)

#34 AP (-11)/ #34 CP (+2) Creighton- very nice win @ Nebraska tonight but with their loss @ Tulsa, I can't see them being ranked tomorrow.
DePaul- playing very well at 6-1 with a win over Stanford, but due to their easy OOC schedule and Lehigh loss they'd need to win every game prior to BE play for a shot at being ranked. May start getting some votes in the next couple weeks if they keep winning.
#33 AP (-3)/ #36 CP (-6) Georgetown- can't find the post now but someone on this website made a case for Gtown to be ranked since nearly all the teams in front of them lost. I think it's a possibility. If they're not ranked tomorrow they'd be ranked with a win vs. #11 Kansas on Wednesday.
Marquette- no chance at being ranked prior to conference play.
#29 AP (-1)/ #27 CP (-2) Providence- won't be ranked tomorrow since they lost @ BC. Should be ranked if they win the next 5 including vs. #15 Miami.
#39 AP (previously no votes) Seton Hall- still undefeated at 7-0 with yesterday's win, so if they win @ #8 Wichita State on December 9 they'll be guaranteed to be ranked. Can't see them being ranked tomorrow without a showcase win.
#39 AP/ #44 CP (previously no votes) St. John's- discussed this the last couple pages, and I think they'll be ranked.
Xavier- nice win yesterday but won't have a shot at being ranked prior to conference play even if they win out. They have an easy OOC schedule and no chances for statement wins.

And the teams that need to worry about hanging on.... (already in the top 25)

#23 AP/ #29 CP (previously no votes) Butler- great week with two solid wins, should easily enter the CP as well tomorrow. Will move up significantly in AP tomorrow, probably to around #17 just because so many teams lost.
#10 AP (+2)/ #9 CP (+2) Villanova- excellent playing, another two wins to remain undefeated. Will move up a few spots with some teams before them losing.

So, for tomorrow....

Best case scenario:
Vilanova, Butler, St. John's and Georgetown ranked (I added Georgetown today, very surprising they're even a possibility since they basically had an off-week)
Worst case scenario:
Villanova and Butler ranked
Most likely scenario:
Villanova (predicting #7), Butler (predicting #17) and St. John's (predicting #24) ranked

If this happens and we get 3 teams ranked it'll be a first for the New Big East.

Will update tomorrow after we know the rankings.

Not sure St. John's makes it in since 1) Cuse wasn't a ranked team and 2) St. John's was only getting 5 points in the latest polls.

I think Northern Iowa who was 26th and still undefeated will get in. The next team out that didn't lose this week is Georgetown and I think we could sneak into the polls. St. John's could be the next team to make it into the top 25 as well, but I think Georgetown and N. Iowa get in first, and I think Seton Hall will move up to be in the 26-30 range of the polls.

Good points. I'm a little biased as a SJU fan but I think their win will get the attention of the AP since they broke the 55 game Carrier Dome non-conference streak. Plus, they have 1 loss to a top 10 and another solid win vs. Minnesota. This is yet another week where it's not clear who will make it the following day. Makes it more exciting though. We'll probably have something like SJU ranked in one poll and Gtown in the other... similar to the other week when I think it was Providence in one poll and Creighton in the other.

Georgetown making it would be excellent for the conference. And IF both Gtown and SJU make it we'd have the following teams ranked at different times this season...

Villanova
Butler
Providence (CP)
Creighton
Georgetown
St. John's

That's incredible after only one month. 60% of the conference.

Seth Davis for one. Nova 9 Butler 18 SJU 22 SHU 23

No way I can see Seton Hall being ranked but looks like they could get a decent bump up from the 5 points from last week which were entirely from John Feinstein having us 21st.

Another ballot with SJU... #14 and #15 from the two I've seen.

EDIT: #15 updated to #14. So #14, #14, and found one more... Seth Davis has us #22. 4 Big East teams including SHU.

Undefeated Washington took down #13 San Diego St last night, so they likely will be ranked assuming people didn't submit their polls before the game was over, which does happen sometimes.

Yeah was thinking the same thing. They'll be ranked but will miss out on some votes.

Well now that I've seen about 10 ballots SJU will definitely be ranked (appeared on all of them). Georgetown has a chance at cracking it. SHU a slim possibility I think they'll be around #28.

Add in a #17 for St. John's on Jerry Carino's ballot. He left both Georgetown and Seton Hall out.
