I disagree that we've played poorly in our other games. We've had 2 halves where our offense wasn't getting good shots and buckets, but our defense played well during both of those stretches, and we eventually got the offense going. We are overall getting 1.08 Points per possession on offense (including the two halves where we didn't shoot well at all), and have given up 0.88 Points per possession (not a number anyone would have guessed we'd have after we played Oklahoma).
While the offense is still learning to play together, we are putting up good numbers, getting some consistent stops and figuring out how to score after we see what a team is doing defensively (both of the second halves of the Oklahoma and NC Central games had us clocking at just under 1.2 PPP) If we keep sharing the ball and running our offense I think the overall number is moving up a good bit. Defense is tricky, but we look like we can sustain a much better defensive effort this year.
I do think that we have a long ways to go, and nothing is certain, but here are a lot of other teams with question marks and that are trying to figure things out. We've managed to win while doing that, so it doesn't bother me that we are ranked.
Overall, it's great to see the conference doing so well. Every win this month adds weight to the argument for more bids from the Big East.
