It's great for my Jays to be ranked as it is nice recognition for the program and Big East, but I don't feel like they deserve that quite yet. Let's see how they do on a neutral court setting this week and their first roadie down in Tulsa next Wednesday.

Congrats to PC and Creighton for being ranked in the Coaches and AP polls respectively! Another good week and both should be ranked in both polls. Georgetown with a solid chance with good showings this week. Xavier in a similar position. Good luck to all!
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Updated...damn this conference is off to a hot start

Butler- if they win their tournament this week, including vs #5 UNC, they will without a doubt be ranked
DePaul- still undefeated, but have an easy OOC schedule so will need to win out to be ranked.
#36 AP (+13)/ #30 CP (+11) Georgetown- very close to being ranked. Winning their tournament (including #18 Florida on 11/26) would definitely get them ranked. #11 Kansas on December 10 another opportunity.
Marquette- likely eliminated from being ranked during OOC play, need to beat NJIT tonight to not be an RPI killer.
Seton Hall- If they win the next 5 including @ #9 Wichita State on December 9 they'll be ranked.
St. John's- took care of business first 3 games. If they knock off Minnesota and (likely) #10 Gonzaga Thanksgiving week to win the NIT I think they'll be ranked. If they lose a game, @ Syracuse on December 6 is another opportunity.
#50 AP Xavier- playing well but their schedule is pretty easy so may need to go undefeated before conference play to be ranked.

And the teams that need to worry about hanging on.... (already in the top 25)

#23 AP/ #36 CP (previously unranked) Creighton- surprised but happy to see them ranked in the AP. Need to keep winning since their schedule isn't very difficult.
#28 AP/ #25 CP (previously unranked) Providence- frankly should be ranked in the AP too, but not far off. The next obvious game here is @ #1 UK on November 30. Win that and they'll be a top 10 team. Lose and they shouldn't drop too much.
#12 AP/ #11 CP (+1) Villanova- huge win vs. #14 VCU tonight, that should guarantee a ranking next week. Need to take care of business and now, with this VCU win, no reason they shouldn't be ranked end of OOC play as long as they win the games they're supposed to.

Excellent job everyone.

Agreed, particularly when this poll currently ranks Nebraska at #20. There is a lot of sorting out to be done over the coming couple of weeks. I take it all with a grain of salt.

Pencil Butler in and move Nova up to top 10 next week.

Update... I'm in disbelief how good we are doing

Butler- huge win vs #5 UNC, If they win the tournament (next 2 games), clearly they'll be ranked. Shot at making it if they go 1-1 and make it to the finals. Oklahoma tomorrow.
DePaul- lost today and likely won't be ranked before OOC play ends due to their easy schedule.
#36 AP (+13)/ #30 CP (+11) Georgetown- very close to being ranked, and their win against #18 Florida tonight was huge. Similarly to Butler, if they make the finals I think they'll be ranked. Win the next two (including vs. #2 Wisconsin tomorrow) and they'll be a top 10 team. #11 Kansas on December 10 another opportunity.
Marquette- likely eliminated from being ranked during OOC play, still significant game vs Georgia Tech tomorrow.
Seton Hall- If they win the next 4 including @ #9 Wichita State on December 9 they'll be ranked.
St. John's- big win vs. Minnesota today in the NIT. If they beat #10 Gonzaga on Friday to win the NIT I think they'll be ranked. If they lose a game, @ Syracuse on December 6 is another opportunity.
#50 AP Xavier- playing well but their schedule is pretty easy so may need to go undefeated before conference play to be ranked.

And the teams that need to worry about hanging on.... (already in the top 25)

#23 AP/ #36 CP (previously unranked) Creighton- just need to keep winning, tournament vs. Ole Miss on Friday.
#28 AP/ #25 CP (previously unranked) Providence- frankly should be ranked in the AP too, but not far off. Home game vs. Yale this week and the next big game here is @ #1 UK on November 30. Win that and they'll be a top 10 team. Lose and they shouldn't drop too much.
#12 AP/ #11 CP (+1) Villanova- another huge win vs. #19 Michigan to win their tournament. After knocking off them and #14 VCU this week, they will obviously be a top 10 team as long as they take care of business vs. Delaware on November 30. May even be a top 5 team.

So, basically if the rest of the games this week end up in our favor (which they won't, but just hypothetically speaking), we'd have six teams ranked on Monday. I'd be pretty happy with 3 teams ranked on Monday, especially if one of them is SJU. Creighton will be very vulnerable to losing in their games being against solid competition on a neutral court, so it's possible (though unlikely) Nova will he the only team ranked.
