BAD LOSSES

Postby redmen9194 » Sat Nov 22, 2014 4:30 pm

Since we have our first official bad loss of the season on the books, I figured I would start up this thread. We are in much batter shape than just about everyone else right now. So here we go:

University of Nebraska - Omaha over Marquette.

We have 2 losses. No other conference has less than 4.

Well, guess now that Marquette isn't perfect like the rest of the conference we won't get 10 teams into the tournament this year.

In all seriousness though, if the other 9 teams continue playing at or close to their levels, I think we'll have at least 5 teams in this year.

Bad losses, and losses in general happen, but BE has done excellent so far in avoiding them. Just look at the ACC bad losses already... 11 losses overall.

I have not been keeping track. How many wins are against top 50 teams.

RPI isn't accurate in the slightest at this point (look for yourself on ESPN, none of it makes sense), so going by KenPom Oklahoma is 29 and FSU is 55. I didn't look at anyone else but I'm assuming most teams are 100+. We'll know a lot more after this week.

The thread is about bad losses though, which can make or break a team come selection time.

I'm not sure... good question... does anyone here know what the RPI is for Hawaii, Appalachian State, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb or Old Dominion...?

It is really early for an accurate RPI measurement. But we need to avoid bad losses. So far we have done better than the other conferences. Thanksgiving week will be a great chance to grab some good wins.

While we had some very good wins this week, there also are just a few bad loses to add. Much less than other conferences are posting so far. Now this could change if any of these teams that beat BE squads go on to win out this season and the list is not scientific in the least. They are games we should expect to win and teams that are low in RPI. Here is what I have this season:

University of Nebraska - Omaha over Marquette.
Lehigh over DePaul
UTEP over Xavier
Ole Miss over Creighton (Ole Miss is the worst team in the SEC)

No doubt that the BE has a few bad losses but so does every major conference. Lets keep winning. The conference is off to a great start. Important game for the Pirates today against GWU.
