I doubt it, it's all about football. Once Louisville left (along w/Pitt, Syracuse and WVU), there was no hope for the Big Least in football.

I am hopeful that the C& will get the Big East name. Did anyone hear on ESPN this morning they were calling the departing schools, the "Big East 7"

Some people have been speculating that ESPN is putting there nose in this and they want the C7 to keep the name as well.

Also, saw in a post that the C& never really said they were departing or exiting but rather evolving and doing this as a way to possibly keep the name. Pretty smart if it is true.

If they don't keep the Big East name, I'm sure it will not be something directional (ie. East Coast, Big North). It'll be something more in the line of Patriot, Ivy, Horizon, Summit...something that can be used and not sound silly if Gonzaga or some other institution that doesn't fit the geography or number comes aboard later. It 100% will not be religious, although something that mixes the two could be possibly be found.

If the ESPN report is true, and they want to share revenue unevenly, I suggest the new name be....The Catholic 7.

Funny. I'm sure they could get St. Bonaventure Niagara and Siena to fill it up to make ten, but your point is spot on.

The best name i've heard so far is "The Classic East" Embodies the tradition class and prolonged excellence of the member schools

Is this thread for the football schools? Because the Big East 7 are keeping the name where it belongs.

Think about it, Big North would work just fine with Gonzaga. :P

How about if they can't keep Big East they just keep the initials? ...Byzantine Empire :)
