Damn sorry to the Butler fans and hopefully he's ok. Bad luck is something us Johnny fans know all about. Not fun. I remember when Lavin had cancer how it just killed the morale of the team and made recruits think twice. It really is a shame because it disrupts the whole program negatively. At least he didn't have any top recruits committed who will now decommit.

I will not stay away from speculation and rumors. I, for one, enjoy speculating.

Depending on who you ask he had Ebola or pulled a Ray Rice.

There are a ton of suspicions regarding the reason, but the one commonality that I've gathered is that Brandon Miller is struggling with something. Lord knows we can all relate to that in some form and I hope he gets whatever help/rest that he needs.

These things always are worrisome.

Last time I saw a coach do this, it didn't end well.

I don't like Butler, but wishing the best for them and their fans.

Appreciate the well wishes, but it's not nearly as serious as Majerus', so you don't need to be too worried about something like that occurring. I do think Jeff Goodman is right though, and I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't come back.

Lavin did it and he has fully recovered.

It's two fold. As a person, yes Lavin has fully recovered. HOpefully it won't come back ever....

But as a program, has the program gotten back to where it was? That season was almost a complete waste, and even after he got back- it's not been where it was before he left.

He stepped into a very tough situation, having to replace Stevens and enter Big East play with a roster that still mainly had Horizon League talent on it, not to mention the fact that he lost Roosevelt Jones in the process.

As compared to other possibilities, I hope this is stress-related and about moving on to a position where he achieves life balance for himself and his family. Hopefully, he will work through all of this and move on.

As for Butler, it needs to get this figured out and figured out quickly. Now that the Komodo has been opened, it seems obvious that Butler has lost essentially an entire year in recruiting, and certainly has lost critical energy in building recruiting pipelines.

Thankfully, Butler put some money into Hinkle Fieldhouse. Though mostly done in a lower-level conference, Butler proved it could achieve sustainable success through coaching changes. It now needs to work through this, get through the growing pains, and get back to relevancy again.

Per Michael Pointer, the Butler Insider reporter on the Indianapolis Star, prized recruit Sean McDermott from Pendleton Heights IN said today he is solid on Butler and will sign his LOI on November 1. McDermott also said he was given the same information from the Athletic Department as everyone else. McDermott is Dunham's eventual replacement.

If I'm not mistaken, Holtmann was the point man for most of this years freshman and recruits. So it could be worse I guess?
