Anybody know if/when foxsports1 app will be on chromecast?

Postby Gibbsyonemoreyear! » Sun Aug 24, 2014 10:33 pm

Hi there everybody. Thanks for keeping the home fires burning with your offseason chat about all things Big East basketball. I'm looking to get back into here myself in a few months but in the meantime I've got a question hopefully someone can answer. Has anybody heard of any plans for chromecast to add the fox sports 1 app to their line up? It's working great with Watch ESPN and I'm hoping the fox sports 1 app is added before basketball season. Thanks.

I really hope that happens too. I'm thinking about getting it and would love it to have FS1.

I think that is up to fox to do. One work around you could do is to use the chrome browser to view the fs1 web app. You should be able to cast that tab to your TV.

I emailed Fox Sports 1 this morning and this is the response I got.

Thanks for checking on that. At least they know there is some demand for it.

On the last update to the Chromecast app on my android, there is the option now to chromecast your Android screen to the Chromecast device. So I can bring up the FSGo app and as long as it is my screen on my android I can chromecast it to the TV and it works pretty slick as a work around until FSGo is able to be chromecast itself. Of course I can't use my Samsung for anything else, but if I am watching the game, I am watching the game. The other options is if you have a device that isn't your phone, you could use that strictly for chromecasting for things that aren't directly integrated yet. So just use that for FSGo.

Sorry guys, I was under the impression that there was a fox sports live stream on their site ala watchespn, but it looks like you have to download an actual app on windows (I assume its the same for iOS) which does not support chromecast. If you are able to find a stream within the browser then you absolutely can cast it from your comp to your tv. For instance, Comcast lets you watch FS1 live through their web portal, so all I have to do is open the stream and cast that tab to the tv (make sure you make the video full screen on your comp though).

Or for you guys with less morals you could just use a streaming site (frontrowsports or something) and stream that tab to your tv for all the sports you want.
