I agree. Make it an annual thing. We could invert the schedule so the big games were during the day rather than late at night if there is concern about the football games.

I don't care for the Marathon being on NYE. Most people have plans and don't want to be tied down watching games on NYE night. I was very happy that the Johnnies and X played at noon that day. I say have the Marathon the last saturday of December. If that happens to be NYE have it the prior or following weekend. Avoid the CFB playoff and make it a different day where people don't have a ton of plans.

Not sure doing it the last Saturday before NYE is good just because that's a day that you sometimes see good OOC matchups with(think last year Nova/Cuse for instance).

Oh for the love of god. Stever is there a day where no other sporting events are being held? Apparently no one will watch us unless there is literally NOTHING else on TV at the time. Hopefully we don't schedule this during a Will and Grace marathon or we'll be CRUSHED in the ratings!

Good OOC matchups happen on EVERY weekend before the conference play starts.

the thing is, not many conferences start their conference play that early at all. This year it'd be Dec 27th. Some years it'd work, but others like this, it wouldn't. Also, there are times where that Saturday between is actually a NFL Saturday(2015 and maybe 2016- not sure about that one).

Also, this year- the calendar OOC is very compressed. 1st day games are allowed is November 14. Very tough to see in such a compressed OOC season BE teams wanting to eliminate 1 of the weekends. Just logistically that's very difficult to pull off.

Also, for this year- I don't think a DePaul team playing in Hawaii on Christmas day would want to have a conference game 48 hours later. Can't regulate as conference that you can't participate in that tournament.

So Nancy as in Negative, what do you suggest? I threw out the week before without doing research, just spit balling. Im glad to see you spent the rest of your day since looking up why that wont work. So please enlighten us on what should we do? Maybe we shouldn't even start off the season since their is so much going on in the world of sports at that point we shouldn't even bother playing, right?

Oh one more thing, we've started conference play as early as the 29th. Thats just off the top of my head without any research to see if we actually ever started earlier. So the 27th wouldn't really be that crazy.

One more thing, this doesn't need to be on a weekend. This can be on a weekday. Many people have the week between Christmas and New Years off. It could be the 30th or 29th or whenever that week.

I've said to look at the 30th. You get a lot of the benefits of NYE but not going up against football... Like this year- doing it the 30th(a Tuesday) is just perfect.

Each year would be different though.
