I agree that the Admins here are good guys and have been more than patient and fair with stever. It's the constant repetitiveness and relentlessness that's mindblowing... Groundhog Day on steroids... and the victim complex. It's like an alarm clock or bat-phone goes off every 2 weeks, and it means it's time for the same repeated, mostly-discredited arguments. I think you're right about him not being a Big East fan... on the bbs site he's removed "Georgetown" from the "I Root For" section... for a while I thought stever20 was "quovadis" from the bbs site... could still be possible... could be the "miko33" troll or the "wilkie" guy, but they're not as smart as stever...

It's really the backseat driver complex or something... we're driving in a snowstorm, we've done it a thousand times, we know the obstacles, we know that we'll reach our destination, but the entire time he's screaming in the passengers seat, and wants us to follow the path of the cars stuck in the snowbank. Needs to STFU and stop acting like he's the smartest guy in the room*.

* everyone knows that I'm the smartest guy in the room... or my buddy Bill Marsh... :D

You guys know you can mute any poster you like right? You'll never see their posts unless someone quotes them but you'll still miss most.

I've been saying he's a troll for years now. I know he doesn't like me an bad mouths me over at BBS. Yes, Stever i've seen you talk trash about me. He's in no way a Big East fan, not a chance in hell.

Anytime I need a good laugh, I head over to the other board. Some of the topics are highly entertaining. For anyone to make an argument that SMU, a program that has made the NCAA Tournament 10 times (not once since 1993), is more prestigious than Xavier's (24 tournament appearances) is mind-blowing. You know when you're engaging in an illogical argument when you have Cincinnati AND Xavier fans agreeing that the statement is completely crazy. You can't argue with crazy

I'm not sure if it's worth explaining or not, but we have imposed posting restrictions on a couple of posters. Generally, this requires that a moderator approve their posts before they can be viewed by the public. Trolling is a pretty subjective thing so we do have differing opinions at times. I'd rather not outright ban anyone unless their posting habits become harassing or truly outlandish, but I do appreciate everyone's comments here and I'll see if we can clean things up a bit.

That might be a partial solution. Unfortunately, I don't think it solves this particular problem because stever completely derails and/or shuts down threads. As a result, people quit reading posts all together or don't feel any interest in participating in discussions. He/she has progressed beyond a minor annoyance into a complete board cancer. Many just do not want to come here because of him/her.

In general I agree but in this case its far more puzzling to understand how unbridled Stever has been allowed to stay. He's made it clear he has issues with anything Big East & he does it at a high clip. On a Big East board what more should it take to be considered trolling, foul language?

Personally, I think people are overreacting to Stever. While he certainly is not a Big East fan, I don't see the harm in letting him have his say. it's a given that he will point out the negative in any particular situation, but the truth is that although much has been positive this first year, there are some areas of concern. I don't mind listening to what the other side has to say, provided it's not overtly disrespectful to anyone. While I normally don't agree with his perspective, he occasionally brings some facts to the discussion, and like I said, there's no harm in knowing the thought process of those that don't wish us well. If the board were infested with 20 Stever's I might feel differently, but one antagonistic voice out there shouldn't be that big an issue.

Buzz is a fraud.

NO Buzz Williams is an exceptional, excellent and intelligent coach. It was a significant loss to Marquette and to the BE when he left.
Apparently some people here did not like what Williams said in his public statements. NCAA history since 1963 has shown that only 3 schools that did not have D1A or D1AA football have won the NCAA BB title. I strongly suspect that the same will be true in the next 50 years. Even wins by our keystone members Georgetown and Villanova happened when they were playing Div 1AA football. As a Xavier fan I always believed our dropping football several decades ago was anything but an asset to the Muskies. We have persevered and so will Marquette (there are many similarities between these two fine universities.)

Buzz has the right to his opinions however when the facts tend to support him the unreasoned criticisms in this thread are unwarranted and foolish.

I must say that I don't expect Buzz to have as superb a record at VT as he has had in the BE however he will continue to do very well indeed and MAY be a future hall of fame winner. Only time will tell.

On another matter I have read Stever's comments on other sites and I must agree that he is not a BE supporter. Perhaps he was a BE supporter before the divorce but he does not appear to be one now. However it is a free country with free speech so I suggest the ignore button. Even the Pope uses excommunication seldom and with great restraint.

Georgetown and Villanova still play 1AA football.

Buzz coached at a school where a great coach won a national championship. Perhaps Buzz feels that he just was not that great.
