So lets look-
UConn had 6 games on ESPN, another 8 on ESPN2, and then 7 on ESPNU. That's a few games? Give me that over 20 FS1 games any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Memphis- 7 ESPN, another 8 on ESPN2, and 3 on ESPNU. That's 18 ESPN games.

Boy, that's really just a few games on ESPNU. But more importantly, we would have been a top 2-3 conference. Not struggling to get even 4 teams in the tourney. We're going to start the season with 1 top 25 team.

Look, I really don't feel like internet fighting. Maybe u are smarter than I am, but I Judy cannot view the Big East negatively. We have a guaranteed 12 years of stability and national tv exposure for every team in the league. All the good teams in the AAC want out, because the "other" teams are awful. So lets agree to disagree, but considering all the possible outcomes of Conference realignment, I think this one (good money, good teams top to bottom, and every team getting a lot of National TV games) for at least 12 years is pretty good.

The AAC teams may want out but w/o any place to go, they can't. Also, my thing was not splitting. I'm sorry but I view Cincy, Temple even, UConn, and Memphis as much stronger than Creighton, Butler, and Xavier. Not to mention what SMU is doing. Having 2-3 dog teams isn't the worst thing in the world in a big league.

I think in terms of realignment, we have to see what FS1 becomes. If it's what it was this year- it's hard to call exposure games averaging 100-150k per game, when games on ESPN draw at least 2x that normally. Also, we're not going to have as many games on TV going forward as fox very likely won't have anywhere near as many dog games on TV as they did last year.

I don't think the 3 new schools are inferior to any of the schools mentioned except for UCONN. Cincy, Temple and Memphis have been good programs, but at this moment, none are currently much better than Butler Creighton and Xavier (which have all been on the rise).

I guess I value stability more than other factors. We have a guaranteed contract. We have a round-robin basketball conference with no dogs (Tulane etc.) No doubt we are lacking national prestige with traditional powerhouses. But we have 12 years to improve. For our good programs to become great (Marquette, Nova, Georgetown), our okay programs to become good (Xavier, Johns, Providence, Creighton) and our lower programs to get okay (Butler, Seton Hall, DePaul.)

So to me, I enjoy the stability. Simply have the 10 teams make a net improvement in the next 12 years (with stronger OOC and NCAA success). The FOX contract is signed, there is no point in sweating it. We really don't have any distractions. All we have to do is improve in this 12 year period and we will be fine.

I am going to admit something --- I visit this site a whole lot less than I earlier anticipated solely because of stever. I understand that some people really get off on playing devil's advocate or Chicken Little, but stever is either the most negative person in arguably the history of mankind or he is just a troll (and perhaps a fan of a school in the AAC). Literally, no matter what the news, stever will seemingly go out of his way to find a negative in the announcement.

I no longer believe he is a fan of one of the BE schools, let alone Georgetown. I am convinced he is a of a fan of one of the AAC schools since most of his posts seem to go on and on about the wonders of that conference while degrading the BE. To make it worse, he has post diarrhea in that he is always here, always running his little negative campaign and picking fights with anyone who points out a positive of the BE and never takes a break. He has made discussion difficult, if not impossible at times. He has admitted that he comes here instead of the bbs board because there is no one left over there to argue with. His act has truly grown tired after the last year and a half. I sincerely wish that the person that runs the board would give stever a nice long posting vacation. I truly beleive that posting volume and interest in participation in this board would go up dramatically with that one move.

+1 Definitely agree, Bluejay. I don't post very often, but I do come to read what my fellow Big East fans have to say. Debate is a good thing, but his constantly berating and arguing is excessive. I too wish that Stever could take an extended "vacation."

Stever's obviously anti-BE and highly motivated about it too. I just assumed he must be an alias used by the Admin. Otherwise I don't know how someone can troll so hard for so long without ramifications. I'm anti-ACC to the bone, but I don't go on ACC boards just to be a pain in the a$$ but if I did I wouldn't expect to last as long as Stever has here.
