Semaj will get drafted and do well, what the kid lacks in polish he makes up for in pure talent. He is the perfect "project" to take in the 2nd round.

that was just a head scratching decision I think to a lot of folks.

McDermott to Charlotte would be interesting. Just looking at their stats- their outside shooting wasn't that good at all.

Cotton would be an interesting pick. If I were the Heat with their Big 3 back, I think he could be a really good fit there- especially late 2nd.

I am definitely biased but I think Edwin has as good a shot or better getting drafted than Cotton. He already has the skills that will translate to the next level and a defined role as a D and 3 wing

There will always be the "what if" thought for every player in this situation. That being said, lets wait till after the draft before we start using hindsight judgments.

Getting drafted in the second round can be a problem. Last year, about half of the 2nd round draftee's didn't play a minute in the NBA. If the player doesn't make the roster, typically they are free and encouraged to negotiate a contract to play internationally. The NBA team still owns the rights to the player, so basically he is still stuck in the system. At times it is better for the player to not be drafted and then to sign with a team that may be more suited to his talents. He may still end up overseas, but not under the control of the NBA team that has his draft rights.

The one advantage a second round draft pick has for the team is that the luxury tax implication is more favorable towards a drafted player than it is to an undrafted player.

It was obvious that semaj christon should have left after his freshman year, more than a year ago, or just wait until after his junior year. This is a terrible draft to enter as a fringy guy as its incredibly deep.

He was given bad advice then and now.

Fom today's Omaha World Herald:

Doug McDermott leaves Omaha today for New York City, where he’ll attend Thursday’s NBA draft with his parents, brother, sister and grandfather as his entourage. McDermott did some interviews on Monday at Creighton. His eyes lit up when told the rumor about Chicago possibly trading up to No. 8, with an eye on him. Bulls exec John Paxson made more than one trip to the CenturyLink Center last season to see McDermott play.

McDermott was in a good mood on Monday. Some highlights:
On any advice Kyle Korver gave him on managing his NBA money (Korver is notorious for being thrifty): “Yeah, we talked about that. He said he spent his per diem every day at Subway. I’ll probably try to eat healthier, but I’m going to be the same way: stash away the paychecks and live off the per diem. I’m going to live like I’m still in college.”

On the promotional video for Peanut M&M’s, where Doug plays H-O-R-S-E against 99 competitors and makes all kinds of trick shots: “It took four hours to shoot the whole thing. Most of the shots took me four or five attempts to make it. The behind-the-back shot from halfcourt took me 22 takes. I made the blindfold one on the first try.”
On what he plans to buy his family with his first pro paycheck: “I’ll probably buy my dad some M&M’s."
