one point on attendance that we may see- with every game on FS1- will especially the OOC games suffer- as fans now know they can watch on TV. I'd think especially for the dreg OOC games- this could be a big factor. Watch for 2 hours instead of the 4+ hours you have to invest to go to a game. Just something that bares watching in the next few years....

Hasn't impacted Creighton's attendance either last year or even when we were playing crappy Valley teams.

wouldn't have been a factor 2 years ago because not as much TV- talking about the new FS1 impact....

Also, having best player in your schools history would lessen that impact. This upcoming year would be bigger I think. Also, had 2 games where you drew less than 17k OOC that could have been a factor. Yes, the dreg OOC games(UMKC and Arkansas Pine Bluff).

Meh I mean all of Georgetown games have been on TV for years even if it was MASN. But yes I could see for instance a Seton Hall fan watching a crappy OOC game on TV instead of going to a game now that they have the option to see it on TV that they didn't have before.

I just know this is an issue more and more with other sports, and wouldn't be shocked if it becomes an issue here as well(especially with the weaker games). Why waste the money and time to go to the game when you can watch it on HD at home with a nice cold one.

No doubt the value proposition becomes stronger for staying home due to FS1 and HD TV's. That being said, I think College attendance will not drop off like other sports.

1) Its not crazy expensive.
2) Its a tradition. People take their kids and eventually their kids buy tickets etc.
3) Rooting for kids and community rather than a team with primadonnas. Although I am generally for "pay for play", there is something to be said about student-athletes making it a different experience. You don't feel like you are cheering for a group of rich prima donnas but rather kids who are now members of your community.
4) Arenas aren't that big. Any school in this conference should be able to get 8,000 plus fans during a good year.

Not saying for the better games or even the middle of the road games. But moreso the absolute dog games that every team has. If those continue to get broadcast(which I have serious doubts by the way- Fox I think wlll push a lot of the dog games off TV)- I think more and more folks will stop going to those and watch on TV. Still have 12-13 games to go to to keep the tradition etc.

I think the 8670 is a function largely of a pathetic home schedule. Wright St, Lipscomb, High Point, Colgate, Elon, and FIU. avg of those 6 games was 7261. Yeah, the 2133 for WVU didn't help out at all of course, but even if it was say a 12,000 crowd, the attendance would have been for the year would have still been 9295.

Also I would say that of our top games- most were on weeknights. Marquette, Villanova, Creighton, Providence all on Monday nights. DePaul on New Years Eve(drawing 7823). Our home Saturday games- St John's(on 1/4), Seton Hall, Butler, and Xavier.

Last year 4 home Sat/Sun games- were Louisville, St John's, Rutgers, and Syracuse. avg for those 4 games- 16750.
this year 4 home Sat games- were St John's, Seton Hall, Butler, and Xavier. Avg for those 4 games- 11203
The total gap there is about 5500 per game- 22188 total.
the total gap from 2013 conference games to 2014 cnference games- 25569. So our home schedule and moreso the weekend schedule, was largely responsible for our difference. That and then in OOC play, in 13 we got Tennessee.

The Xavier game this year was at 11:00 AM too if I remember correctly. Not exactly the most appealing time to go to a game.
