It's amazing how soooome posters here keep trying to make the case for how the Regular Season BE title is much more important than the actual BET title, almost like a "nice to have" thing. Yet whenever some other conference tries to horn in on MSG/BET those same posters get damn near like an overprotective parent of the BET. Which one is it- a unique & extra-special showcase or just a few games to improve seeding?

C'mon now, thats just ridiculous. Maybe YOU don't care about that but the players, coaches and schools sure as hell care!

Because of conference tournaments, the regular season is more or less irrelevant. I don't like that (I hate conference tournaments), but it's more or less the way of the NCAA. SLU won the last 2 A-10 regular seasons, and it hasn't helped us much if at all. Make 30 games count more than 4; but that would be too easy.

You are right that players and coaches care about the regular season more than fans do. In an extreme case, a team could lose every regular season game, play in the conference tournament and win a bid to the NCAA tournament...and keep out the regular season champion.

False choice...Which one is more important was my point & The BET was my answer. What's yours?

It all depends on your situation. If you win the regular season it means you don't need the auto-bid and will get a good seed. If you need the auto-bid then the BET is more important and you will have a lower seed.

That's a logical description that applies to every cbb team in general...The BET is and has always been different though. Two things basically saved the nBE from dying from expansionitis...the name & the BET at MSG...3 things actually, the $$ to secure them lol.
