Oh, wait. I can't even watch it because they aren't nationally televised...maybe once the entire season if they are lucky. I think it will be a rude awakening once he sees the massive difference playing top 25-50 teams and now playing in a place with crappier facilities and facing #200-300 teams. Obviously I hope SJ does well because I'm an alumni (just graduated), but it would really be funny to see SJ as a top 25 team and him at Manhattan going nowhere. His handler totally derailed a once very promising career. This whole thing reeks of shadiness from his handler, the rumors that him and his handler demanded thousands of dollars to negotiate with him, and the fact that he turned down SJ, his hometown team down the road not once but twice. Well, he turned us down the first time and we turned him down the second time really. Lavin may not be the greatest coach but he does not let people manipulate our program and that's nice to see. With Whitehead he refused to hire his high school coach and now with JL he refused to pay the money to talk with him (or so the rumors go).

Lawrence did not want to leave Cincinnati. He committed to UC for a reason, because Mick Cronin will make you a tougher player, and that is exactly what he needed to make it to the NBA. Unfortunately, his father was ill and he decided to leave home and made a good decision to go to Manhattan.
St. Johns signed Chris Obekpa and dealt with his shady handlers which makes your ironic comments about Lawrence the more hilarious.

That's not what we heard. We heard that Lawrence wanted to play a different position and butt heads with Cronin over it. He also didn't receive much PT. So from what we heard, yes he wanted to leave. What was shady about our players' recruitments? Can you name a specific example? I remember Obekpa was very close to signing with Cincy then signed with SJU at the 11th hour. Does that mean it was shady, or he just had a change of heart because his high school was 45 minutes from Queens and decided to stay local? I haven't heard any real speculation in detail. Just that he chose us. I can name specific instances like Whitehead being SJU all the way until the 11th hour when SHU got involved and said they'd hire his coach if he came as a package deal. They reportedly gave St. John's one last chance to match that offer and take Tiny IW's coach, and Lavin supposedly told them to get lost. SHU was willing to take the risk and closed the deal. That's confirmed shady. Lawrence has been well-known as having a very shady handler from both Cincy and SJU fans. There are also the rumors that his handler demanded a ton of money up front just to be able to sit down and chat with them.
I have actual rumors and some confirmed shady business. All you have is speculation.
