Virginia could possibly only go if Virginia Tech comes too. I am sure both will be eastern schools. It is still possible they could go in a completely different direction and add 2 non-AAU schools Connecticut and Syracuse but that's highly unlikely. If the Big Ten takes from the ACC, the ACC would likely add UConn. They could possibly go for Kentucky and Vanderbilt or Missouri and Vanderbilt of the SEC.

UNC would leave NC State for a bag of donuts. What they won't leave is the control and influence they have over the ACC until there is nothing worth having influence and control over.

Pitt gets the Big 10 nothing. I'd guess that the Big 10 network is already on all the cable packages in Pittsburgh thanks to PSU.

No one is leaving the SEC for the Big 10 or the ACC.

I think they stay put but if the Big 10 expands I'd guess the order of likelihood is probably UConn, UVA, Kansas, Georgia Tech.

Yeah, I'd guess the top 2 would be Virginia and UConn. UConn would box the ACC out of NYC. I mentioned this one other time, but hrough this whole process, I think SU and Pitt have been overvalued, and UConn has been undervalued.

I can't think of a single school in the SEC that wouldn't jump to the Big Ten if it were an option. The fact of the matter is that SEC schools really just do not fit the standards that the Big Ten looks for (notably AAU). Vanderbilt would obviously be an exception to this if they had more gravitas but they do not,

I think its certain that the Big Ten will raid the ACC again, but I also think its certain to be after the conclusion of the Maryland situation.

You could maybe make a case that Vanderbilt or Missouri would want to go to the Big 10 but outside of that I 100% disagree with you. You severely underestimate the pride those schools have in being part of ESS-EE-SEE FOOTBAW

E, have you spent any time in the South? It's a serious question, because it goes straight to my response to you. Firstly, so that you know, I'm a native Ohioan who grew up on Woody Hayes and Ohio State Football. Xavier is first and foremost in my book for college hoops, but the Buckeyes are still my favorite collegiate football team.

With that noted, I now live in Northeast Florida. Allow me to put it this way: as far as some of these people are concerned, the war isn't over yet, or at least it shouldn't be. I'm referring to that nasty little internal conflict in the 19th Century. I've become good friends with many fine Southern Gentlemen. I've walked into my club on occasion to find them dressed in their ancestors' officer battle gray uniforms - for a Confederate Ball. I truly believe many SEC fans are jealous, in a way, of the B1G, because of its heritage, etc., but they're also quite comfortable in their own skin now given the SEC's recent dominance and due to the fact that they know the South continues to attract net migration to it. Look at Florida now versus even a decade ago, with respect to population.

Otherwise, on the academic front, Florida - UF - has a strong enough academic resume to contemplate such an idea, along with Vanderbilt. That is if you look at it purely from an academic point-of-view. The other SEC schools? They don't care; they know they're the main land grant schools in their respective states otherwise, so their med school, law school, business school, frat and sorority contacts and networks are more than sufficient to help them to continue to rule the South.

Yeah... Florida's a member of the AAU, and I can guarantee you that if the B1G invited them, it would be days before UF stopped laughing.

So it's really happening now huh? I know there was lots of speculation of the P-5 taking over, but this basically seals the deal. This will trigger one last round of musical chairs and when it's all over, schools like Gonzaga, St. John's, Creighton, G'Town, Nova, Marquette, etc. go from known basketball schools playing major hoops to mid major afterthoughts. It's amazing to me how college football really will ruin college sports. It's so unfair to basketball fans.

I hate to sound pessimistic but the days are probably near where we all become mid major and forgotten about. They will most certainly find a way to create their own NCAA tourney and most of the public won't mind because they only watch the big schools anyway. So RIP cinderellas slaying giants, RIP basketball relevancy outside the P-5, and RIP to major college athletics outside of the P-5.

All of this triggered by Cuse and Pitt leaving in the middle of the night. I hope the ACC gets torn to shreds at least even if we have to become a mid major conference now and be excluded from playing P-5 teams.

Of course I just start to become a SJ diehard when the old Big East was in its final few years. Just when I really get into it, and now it's collapsing. Damn shame. Our only hope is that someone steps in and somehow puts an end to this madness and tells the schools to stop playing musical chairs because it's killing NCAA hoops.

I really hope I'm dead wrong and we can laugh about this in a few years but it seems like a scary and real possibility.

Everything is conjecture at this point. You can read the tea leaves any way you want right now. The BE has said that they will do whatever the P5 do in terms of full cost of scholarships and I believe the P5 have said they won't create their own NCAA tournament. Relax.
