It's very shady and him and his handler want to be treated like divas bigger than the team and he is a bust so far. An epic bust. I'd much rather Thomas and this Carter transfer from G. Tech. If there's anything I've learned, we need less athletes and highly rated recruits and more humble team oriented SKILLED players. Enjoy your irrelevancy JL.

Yeah, the Fordham thing is a head scratcher. Jon Severe is great, but the team has been awful forever... since Tom Penders probably... and like u said, St John's just beat them by 50 in MSG.

When Severe was on our radar I was begging to get him. I got made fun of on the SJ forums for wanting him so badly as a pure shooter. Turns out the kid was the real deal and now he's playing for Fordham. The kid can kill you from 3. Another elusive pure shooter we so desperately need.

John Severe is not great. But he certainly likes to shoot the ball.

I'm not sure that Severe is the real deal either. But he certainly likes to shoot the ball.

As an A10 fan who probably saw John Severe play more than most of you, I'll say that the Red Storm is better off without John Severe, one of the worst ball hogs I have ever seen play college basketball.

John Severe's 2013-14 Stats: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... jon-severe

Severe made less than a third of his FG attempts, and just over a third of his three-point attempts. Most of the A10 freshmen guards shot the ball better than that.

John Severe's 2013-14 Game Log: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... jon-severe

Cherry pickin':

1-21 vs. St. Johns
4-22 vs Richmond
3-13 vs. Dayton
3-13 vs. VCU
3-13 vs. George Washington
2-14 vs. UMass
4-16 vs George Mason

Most of Severe's 'good games' were non-conference, against poor opponents. Taking too many shots and missing too many of them does not make someone a great player. Far too many times, John Severe took contested shots when he had an open teammate.

Let it go FF, not all, but many of these guys are the same posters calling promising young guard Arch a lights out shooter:

34.1 FG%, 32.7 3FG%, 82.4 FT%, 11.9 ppg, 31 mpg

Yet dog out D'Angelo (last season stats):

38.1 FG%, 37% 3FG, 80.4 FT%, 17 ppg, 32 mpg.

I think I got caught up in the Severe hype without knowing much about his game. Can't imagine a guy shooting 1-for-21... I mean, at the point when he was 1-for-20, he decided to take yet another missed shot...

Maybe, and I know this may sound crazy, but just maybe it isn't really possible to extrapolate how much Severe would have helped St. John's solely based on stats due to the fact that he is playing an ENTIRELY different role for Fordham than he would for St. Johns. Of course he is going to shoot 20+ times and take terrible shots at Fordham. Who else is going to shoot?

His game undoubtedly would have helped a team with basically no perimeter threat if he bought in as a role player. It is also just as crazy to just assume that he would buy into being a role player though, which he has never done in his basketball career (to my knowledge anyway), making the argument just as invalid from that side. The whole conversation is largely pointless, but then again, it's the off-season and this is in fact a message board.

His teammmates.

Box Score: Richmond 77, Fordahm 74, OT: http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=400506061

Fordham shot 24-71 (33.8 %) from the field.

Jon Severe shot 4-22 (18 %) from the field.

His teammmates 20-49 (41 %) from the field.

Perhaps John's teammates could have won this close game for the Rams, but they didn't get the chance.

Play-by-play: Richmond 77, Fordahm 74, OT: http://espn.go.com/ncb/playbyplay?gameId=400506061

In the last 2:09 of OT, with Fordham leading 70-67, Jon Severe missed a layup and two 3-pointers.

BTW, this is my last post on this thread. Or about Jon Severe.

When he had an "Open teammate" at Fordham, the Coach was probably yelling at him to shoot.

Jermaine Lawrence will be playing at Manhattan next year. Looks like it won't take Steve Masiello long to have another impact year, assuming that Masiello himself resolves his academic problems and earns his degree this summer. I hope that Manhattan has locked up Masiello for the next 5 years in return for saving his butt after Masiello's USF debacle a couple of months ago.

Even if they locked Masiello up for 40 years, coaching contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on. I can't imagine a buyout would be that prohibitive that he would stay for the entire term. I'm sure it's high this year and lowers each year over the life of the contract.
