Just saw this... Great news of course for Xavier- though I always take these with a grain of salt as college basketball coaches in general the contract is worth about as much as the paper it's written on.

Glad the BEast are locking down their best coaches. X tore up his old contract and gave him a new contract and a two-year extension.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the most high profile coaches are all locked in to nice deals

Nice but I don't think these extensions get in the way if anyone really wants to leave

Understood, but it is about being paid your fair market value. He's a grad and from the area. At this point I assume he would have to be blown away with another offer to leave.

He received an annual raise and they tacked an extra two years on the deal.

It's actually a little better than that, because they took care of his staff as well.

There will be staff turnover at some point, due to the coaching talent he has on the bench, but at least Xavier has bolted down its "Mark Few" for a while. I don't see Chris going anywhere at anytime in the near future, meaning in the next 5 years.

Lavin will be extended once the new president of St. John's takes over on July 1.
