Coaches salaries

Postby Peter » Thu Dec 27, 2012 11:23 pm

I'm interested to know how much each coach from the expected schools makes. Are the Big East coaches paid more than Stevens?

Stevens' salary has never been officially revealed by Butler, but it's been enough to keep him from jumping to the PAC-12 or Big 10. It was substantially raised following the 2010 season.

Coach McDermott has like a 1 million base salary at Creighton. Last year I think he got some bonuses as well for making the tournament and winning a game.

Buzz Williams, Marquette:

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/154187205.html

Newly released tax documents from Marquette University indicate men's basketball coach Buzz Williams earned $1,736,453 for the year ending June 30, 2011.

Williams earned a base salary of $1,001,125, according to the documents, which are public record and are sent to the Internal Revenue Service. In addition, Williams was paid a $69,000 bonus; earned $19,600 in retirement or other deferred compensation; and $15,478 in non-taxable benefits.

In addition, Team Buzz Williams LP, which includes Williams as a partner, was paid $631,250, according to the documents.

Marquette spokesman Brian Dorrington said "it was not uncommon for coaches of major revenue-generating college sports programs to have this type of an arrangement."

Williams, considered to be one of the highest paid college basketball coaches in the country, actually was paid less for the year ending June 30, 2011, than he was the year before. Based on tax documents for the year ending June 30, 2010, Williams was paid a total of $2,800,347. A total of $1,987,203 of that amount was a one-time bonus, school officials said.

In March 2011, Williams signed a multi-year contract with Marquette. The contract includes a rollover provision.

Williams' career record at Marquette is 96-45.

I believe Lavin makes about 2-3 Million. He's not exactly earning that money.

Interesting that folks were complaining about how little Mack made, but he made 75k more than Cooley did.

Also no way that SB nation thing could be taken seriously. Lavin 3rd? Purnell 7th? Cooley only 6th?

my poll would look like-
1- Wright
2- JT3
3- Ed Cooley(really close to putting him 2nd btw)
4- Chris Mack
5- Greg McDermott
6- Steve Lavin
7- Kevin Willard
8- Steve Wojciechowski
9- Oliver Purnell
10- Brandon Miller

just tough to say where Miller should be- last year such an incomplete and they lost so many late games. Think end of next year Wojo will be higher. Think Lavin and Purnell likely coaching their final years next year. This year we'll learn a lot about McDermott.

Mack's number, for what it's worth, is seriously out of date.
Xavier will surprise. Never count them out of the Dance.
