There is also some conflicts with his "handlers" demanding that he plays the 3 spot when he is really more of a stretch 4 that cannot shoot three pointers. I wish him the best of luck but he's going to need to try to become his own man.

How is his jump shooting? Can he box out?

Shot 33% from the field and just 17% during conference play. He was impressive in his defensive effort to buy into Mick's system though.

@NYPost_Brazille: I'm told Jermaine Lawrence visit to Hofstra went great. Plan is to visit Iona, Manhattan and St John's before making decision. #sjubb

On paper its not the stiffest of competition for SJU. You just never know with coaching relationships in NYC. If Lavs wants & has a role for him then the Johnnies need to win this recruiting battle.

Thought I saw from Zags maybe that SHU would not recruit Lawrence.

He's not going to St john's. It's between Hofstra, Manhattan and Iona. Supposedly both he and Lavin agreed it wasn't a good fit, whatever that means. Wonder why he's set the bar so low for where he wants to continue his basketball career?

One of several things just happened:

Either:

1) Whoever is advising this kid has all but ruined his career and chance to play in the NBA.

2) St. John's has a serious, serious problem and Lavin not only sucks at coaching but now sucks at bringing the big names here. If he swings and misses on Briscoe and Diallo, it will all but be confirmed.

3) Lawrence is just really stupid. To say you want to be the next KD and make it to the NBA. You grow up in Queens. There is a storied program that just won 20 games in Queens minutes from where you grew up. Big East. MSG. Big stage. Duke, Cuse, Nova, G'Town on schedule. You spurn them for Cincy. Then you leave Cincy to be closer to home. St. John's needs your position and you will basically get unlimited PT. Perfect fit right? Nope. Too perfect, apparently.

There is something very fishy with this situation just like the Whitehead recruitment. It's no longer about what makes sense. I would have liked to have this kid, but he seems he is a bust already. A 5 star kid goes from sought after recruit to mid major irrelevancy after 1 year. It will be hilarious knowing he will face mighty St. Peters, Niagara, Marist, Monmouth or Towson, William & Mary, UNCW, JMU, etc. I hope he doesn't plan on getting exposure, because scouts want to know what you can do against Duke, Cuse, Nova, and G'Town not those bums. If he somehow miraculously gets drafted still, his stock will fall with that very question. Either way, something very fishy is going on.

UPDATE: Someone is reporting that Lawrence's team of handlers was demanding $10,000 to sit down and talk. That might explain why he never even visited SJU before we told him to go screw himself. Something tells me Seton Hall would not only pay that fee, but also hire his high school coach :D

Clearly something fishy going on when a former 5 star's list is 3 low majors.

You make too much sense PhillyPirate to debate somebody making no sense at all.

@NYPost_Brazille: Let me get this straight on St John's fans and Jermaine Lawrence: Yesterday he was coming they were thrilled and now he's a primadonna?

@NYPost_Brazille: I love covering St John's, but their fans are insane.
